Badly Squeaking Windows

Recommended Posts

In particular , my Driver's power window squeaks loudly and rises slower than the others.

In addition , I can't open either of the rears without them getting jammed.

I removed the door panel on the passenger rear and discovered that the wire cable is frayed at the bottom right which causes it to get stuck. I have not removed the other side rear-door panel.

What , if anything does anyone know about the Driver's window issue and am I looking at alot of money to fix the rears?

Depending on the model year and miles and your relationship with a dealer, you may be able to get a "one time "good will" ( ie free) repair. GM had some bad window regulators a few years ago. I got 4 windows fixed on a 2000 Buick Lesabre ( 3 to 5 years old w/ 45k miles on it,) and a 2000 corvette passenger window (at 7 years old with 45k mi.)

My always helpful service advisor told me that on some models( with problems) they would fix them without a problem up to 5 years old. I told him to mention that I owned 5 GM vehicles and that the two oldest would soon be replaced. He was surprised when they agreed to fix mine.

I can see how owning 5 GM vehicles would get you some leverage :D , good for you .

Mine is a 2002 with about 130K miles and the only GM Dealer I would take mine to is a Truck Center and there's too much turnover to get any extras out of them .

I would like to thank you for your post , however .

Cheers.
