I am trying to add steering wheel controls to 06 Silverado 1500. I installed the clockspring and new steering wheel and controls. I took the truck to the dealer with the print out from earlier posts here with details of what was needed. The dealer called and got the codes they tried to load and they would not work they called and got two more sets of codes which did not work. So now I have spent 4 hours at the dealer and the money for the all of the parts and it will not work. My question is 1. has anyone else experienced this, is it possible the code will not work? 2. Does anyone know where I could get the instructions on exactly how to program the codes in to the truck. It is possible the dealer put an inexperienced tech on the job I just dont want to keep spending money if it will not work. Any help would be appreciated.

you need the wheel with the controls, and a new clockspring, P/N 26101829 for light duty with 2 connectors on the back of the air bag and P/N 26101828 if you have an HD with only one connector on the baqck of the air bag. Then you will need to go to the dealer and have the BCM reprogrammed to turn on the wheel controls, and also the cluster reprogrammed to use the DIC functions.
