I got a truck with the tire air sensors, and just want to change out the 20" rims, for something different. Can you put the stock montiors back into the new rims, while they are mounting them?

Yes, you sure can. Then just do a re-learn through the DIC

Also, if there is a significant change in pressure, you may have to get the dealer to update the BCM (I think that is the right computer) to reflect the higher inflation. In other words, if the new tire is greater than 10 psi higher than your old tires, you will get pressure errors.

+1 Actually, this calibration is stored in the RDL module (Remote door lock module)...believe it or not. Your dealer can change your nominal pressure setting with a Tech 2 scanner. They did mine for $65. This is NOT the same as the "re-learn" procedure. The sensors work in a range of +/- 10 PSI from the set nominal pressure. Stock 20's are nominally set for 35 PSI and have a range of 25-45 PSI. If you go with bigger tires, i.e. more sidewall, you will likely need to run about 45-50 PSI. This will put you at or above the high end of the stock range and you will get "check tire pressure" warnings on your DIC.

So Jeff, when you do "real truck" things, like hardcore off roading, and you lower the pressure in those 18s down to about 15 0r 20 PSI, do you get tire pressure warning lights?

:D

Nah, that's only necessary for rock crawling. I don't do rock crawling. :D

Watch out for those curbs now, would want to ding the bling ya know!!! :D

Haha. That's why I'm installing a set of curb feelers when I get my wheels on :D

Will, do you think we could integrate those with our back up sensors? :(

Or maybe with your vanity mirror? That way you can put on your make-up while backing up, without hitting a curb!!! :)

Real trucks (and drivers) don't need no stinkin' "back-up" sensors. :D:(:D:)

Hell yes we can! Just let me finish installing my backup cam; I almost backed over a little clump of dirt yesterday.

Well if my adjustable pedals aren't absolutely perfect, it could even be dangerous for pedestrians
