Drill Hole Before Or After Line-x

Hi All,

I have an appointment next week for a Line-X job in my 2005 Stepside, $475. I also ordered an Access Lorado cover that I am waiting to install until after the Line-X. Since my truck is a stepside, I have to drill two holes into the insides of the bed rails to install my Access (can't just clamp on, no lip.) Is it OK to drill through the Line-X? Or should I drill the holes before hand? I want to wait until after just so I can be sure my cover will fit properly, but I don't want to sacrifice the integrity of the liner by drilling through it. What do you think? Thanks.

personally if it were me i would pre-drill the holes a hair bigger than they are supposed to be as the lining is pretty thick and will make the hole smaller when it is sprayed. that way you can always waller the hole out a little for you cover if you need. i would think that you could do it either way really. as long as the surface is prepared properly the lining will stick good so it shouldnt damage it to drill through it. but like i said personally i would predrill them just a hair bigger and file some out if need be...

That is something to ask your Line-x dealer but...

if it was me, I would do it after since the line-x with make the holes a bit smaller after being sprayed....

Definitely drill before, then you can be assured the bare metal is line-x'd. The dealer drilled all the drain holes in my bed 1/4" over and he drilled 3/4" holes for the drain tubes for the rollup bed cover (Pace Edwards). The 1/2" tubes fit through perfectly now - no worries about rust, ever.

I had this done on my previous truck - a 2000 Sierra. Never had the slightest hint of rust at those holes after 6 years of Michigan weather - 4 of which were outdoors storage.
