Matching Keys

I'm having an argument with the dealer about the keying on the factory hard tonneau cover. I think that it can be keyed to work on the ignition key (like the sliding factory in-bed tool box) and the parts department keeps saying "No". Has anyone had any experience on this? I am thinking that if they can get the toolbox and tailgate to work on the same key, why not the tonneau cover too? Hey, it ain't rocket science.

They could theoritically if they used a programmable lock cylinder, but I've heard the factory cover isn't made by GM but some other company like Access.
