K&n Air Flow Kit For 08 Silverado 5.3

Hey guys anyone install in the new 2008 5.3 silverado x cab w/ tow pack. I fig it might help some with my gas mileage a little. Wonder if its worth the price.I tow maybe 5 times a year and anyone think i will save .I f i get even 2 miles on gallon with normal driving i think it might be worth it. Anyone have opinions and which Air flow kit you think might be best??

I'd get the GMPP air intake - I think its the best. Just my .02 though. I think Vmax would agree with me on this one.

 

It's a friggen awesome upgrade, worth every penny. I don't think you'd get 2 miles a gallon, as I have the same package as you and I didn't notice any increase.

All kits have their advantages but most only get 1 MPG extra or help with performance little difference. I run a open element with out the heat shield because it looks cleaner and is worth less. I data longed for over a month in all weather conditions and temps the stock air box pulled about 20-50 degrees high temps than outside air and with the air kit with heat shield pulls about 15-25 dgrees hotter air and with open element no heat shield pulls 2-5 hotter than outside temp. So you can take the info provided and maybe help u out with your choice.

Get a GMPP intake. I love mine and it looks great under the hood. + the dealer won't hassle you about it if you ever have problems since it's a GM product

SLP FTW in my opinion... cheaper then most and ive noticed a small increase in power and about .5-1mpg increase as well.

I have the k&n 77 series (stainless) looks good, sounds good, but not sure if there is ANY mpg increase at all, maybe 1 mpg. If i had it to do over again i would i have went with the GM cai. But if you are doing this only for increased fuel economy, forget about it you will never make up the 300-400 cost for the cold air intake.
