Blower Motor Inoperative

My son has a 2005 Coronado. The blower motor does not work at all.

We checked the blower motor by applying 12V and it ran. We replaced

the blower motor resistor assy and the wiring harness (which was damaged

from a previous resistor problem). When we disconnect the electrical connection

to the motor and check for voltage it appears that ony 1V is present.

We checked the blower motor switch on the front panel and it appears good.

Any ideas on what to do next?

Thanks,

Ralph

You should have a brown wire (circuit 41) and a orange wire (circuit 52) at the blower motor itself. The brown wire is battery voltage coming from your underhood fuse block (Blower, Fuse 41 30amp). The orange wire is the ground wire. The blower motor resistor is placed on the ground side of the circuit. In other words the switch doesn't limit the supply voltage. You sound like you have a problem with circuit 41 somewhere between your underhood fuse block and the blower motor.

By the way, you have two inline connectors on that circuit. One is behind the right kick panel, and one is on top of the HVAC case.

I finally got a 'Test light" and put it on the brown wire at the connector going to the blower motor. With the ignition switch on the test light lights up. I put the test light on the orange wire and it also lights up.

If I turn the ignition switch off, the test light does not light on either the brown or orange wires at the connector.

Any suggestions on what could be wrong?

Thanks,

Ralph
