Windows Slow To Roll Up, And Sometimes Off "track"

I noticed that my front windows were rolling up a little slower than normal...and at inconsistent rates. In addition, my passanger side window will sometimes end up outside the weather stripping at the top. (05' sierra crew cab). I have a couple of questions:

1. what should I do / check / replace? Actuators? Window motors? maybe it's just a friction issue?

2. should I try and tackle this myself? I'm pretty handy, but I always get intimidated when it comes to messing with interior trim and stuff.
