Early 80s Cab On A 79?

my 79 needs the common cab parts for a truck of its year, and i ended up finding a good deal on a complete rust free southern cab with the doors and interior still in it for $700. My question is this, will the 80-87 (i think those are the years) fit my 79 without having to do a ton of body work? i know the later trucks had the cowl attached to the cab, mine has the cowl in the hood that hides the wipers. i also know that my hood hinges bolt to the fenders, and the newer one i believe have part of the hood mechanism in the cab. and as far as i know, those are the only two major differences in the year ranges. has anyone done a newer cab to an older truck and kept the same front end? i definitely want to keep my one piece cowl and hood, and i want to keep the vertical marker lights and singe round headlights/grill setup. is this doable by just removing the vented cowl and slappin my hood and fenders on the newer cab? thanks.

im pretty sure the generation youre talking about is 73-87, with some minor body front end changes in those years. so yes, I would say it will fit.

yeah, those are the years. i know the cab itself will drop right onto the frame, but i know something has to be done about the cowl on the newer cab before i can put my hood on it. thats what im asking, just how much work would it take. ive been told the fenders will bolt right up no problem. im only worried about the cowl/hood hinge issue.
