Easy Lift Tailgate Product

My tailgate has slammed open, a few times while off-road, and thought this might be a good product to but. I also open/close it alot, for work, and have gone through, 5 sets of tailgate cables. I have the recalled ones now, and their ok. Gm refunded the 5 sets of cables, I bought, cause I kept all of the receipts. Anyways, I did a search, and found an ez-down product, that attaches to your cable. Not much info. on easy lift. Does the bar, that goes in the tailgate, touch the back, of the outer tailgate skin? and if so, will it cause body damage? Here's a link http://www.truckaccessorizer.com/store/hoppy_easylift.htm

Correct, The instructions, is for the one, I'm interested in, (Easy lift). The cable one (Ez-down), I'm not interested in. It looks like a shock set-up and If you remember, hatchback cars, had small shocks, that would never last. I like the torsion bar better.

I got the ezlift from the factory when I ordered.

 

But I did later get the ezdown and installed it. It took 30 mins to install and I love it.

 

No more breaking my wrist and arm to slow down the tailgate.

I don't think, easy-lift, is the same as the 07-08 GM truck set-up. This is an aftermarket product for trucks without stock ez-lift.
