I have the nitto terra grapplers and there quiet and work good on and off road like there suppose too...I took it on a muddy road nothing crazy but they dident get stuck or get loose. Also on a trip to the beach they rode great the way down and the way back and even did good in the sand! Overall in my experience a great tire and a great look!

I've got the MTZ's, not the ATZ. They might be my next set of tires though...

Why?

I loved my MTZs on my Wrangler, and was planning to put them on the truck as well, so if there's something you don't like about them on the truck speak up now!

No I do like them. I like them a LOT. I just don't feel like I need the mud tire, since I almost never get a chance to wheel the truck anymore. From my expierence, and other people I've talked to, they are one of the best dual purpose (on/off road) tires out there.

I have no regrets going with them, I just feel like a poser since I barely get to wheel the truck.

Out of the poll, I'd go with the Toyo Open Country's. A lot of people I know have had good luck with those tires. I don't have any idea about the Nitto's and I'm sick of seeing BFG's now that everyone and their grandmas have them. Here are some others:

Cooper Discoverer ATR

I have these and they really are a great tire. They ride great and are quiet on road, but can still hold their own off road.

Cooper Zeon LTZ

Look up Controller, he has these.

I have ran both on my '99 and the BFG is a better tire however they are more expensive. I like the look of my current Nittos better and they perform almost as well, but not quite.

also, my Nittos are much quieter on the road than the BFGs

overall I think the Nitto is a better value however the BFG is the better tire but not by that much.

ATZ Radial Plus are supposed to wear better and are a lot quieter. Excellent traction in mud and snow, good in rain at speed.

I've never had or know anyone who's had Toyo's, so I can't comment on them. At the time I bought my BFG's and Nitto's I was reading a lot of bad reviews about the Toyo Open Country's only giving between 20k and 30k miles before they were toast - so I stayed away from them. That was 2 or 3 years ago. I'm sure this will be rebutted and I may be flamed for saying that in here - but it is what it is, that is what I read.

As for BFG's and Nitto's:

I am running BFG's in the summer on my chrome wheels and Nitto's in the winter on my stock wheels. The Nitto's provide all around better street traction, especially in the wet. The Nitto's have always had better wet traction than my BFG's, and I find that as my BFG's wear down their wet traction characteristics continue to degrade. My BFG's are now at or slightly less than half tread, and the wet traction is terrible.

As for wear, I think my Nitto's are wearing a little faster than my BFG's but they're pretty close - I haven't taken any measurements to prove one way or the other. I believe one of the reasons my BFG's aren't wearing quite as fast is because they are made with a harder compound, which also may explain the decreased wet traction, but this is just my own speculation.

As for looks, I think it depends on your set up. For my truck, I prefer the square, broad shoulder of the BFG's, but I think Nitto's look better on some trucks - it's all personal preference.

As for off-road traction - I can't really comment very much. I've had my BFG's off-road in some quite sticky mud (lots of clay in it) a couple times and they will get you around if you spin them up enough to clean out. The BFG's have smaller gaps (than the Nitto's) between the tread blocks so it takes more centripital force to clean out the tread - which means spinning up. I've never had the Nitto's off-road much, but I've taken on some pretty deep snow in two wheel drive with them - as soon as they start to spin you can feel them dig in and off you go.

Bottom line: My truck sees road FAR FAR more than it ever sees dirt, so I buy tires based upon long wear and looks. If I were buying tires again today, I would probably buy the BFG's because they have the look I like. If I drove off-road or in inclement weather more than I do, I would stick with Nitto's or possibly the Toyo's.
