This is kind of long winded but I hope you find it worth the read and please help me decide what to do. Since I value all the members opinions here I thought I would post a poll before I continue on. My neighbor has been hanging a bunch of crap on the property line that divides his and my property. My driveway sits right next to his property line. A couple weeks ago his shepards hook which was overloaded with weight and bareley secured into the ground far enough fell and scratched my 08 Sierra leaving a 2 ft. long scratch. It did not go thru the paint but is far enough into the clear coat that it won't buff out. He doesn't feel it's bad enough to pay to fix it because it's just a truck so in an attempt to get even I bought some Mosquito attractant and sprinkled it on the property line so that the south wind would spread it over his property and make his life semi-miserable. He has no idea why the mosquitos are so bad this year and why his wife and him are getting eaten alive but they have retreated to the garage which is no longer in line with the attractant I've spread out. So I'm sitting and watching them walk around and continuously swatting the little blood suckers and I'm feeling pretty happy with myself when my wife wants to know what's so funny and so I fess up and tell her everything. She didn't see the humor and proceeded to tell me I should quit picking on the neighbore. So here is my dilema. My wife wants me not to go and buy a second container of mosquito attractant which I was planning on spreading far enough around as to encapsulate the garage also. Here's where you come in, I've narrowed my dicision down and need some help. The choices are. 1. Buy the second batch and cover the garage also. 2. buy 2 containers and do it right for full coverage.

What you are doing, is IMO, kid stuff. If you asked him nicely to pay to repair your truck, and he refused, take it to small claims court. If he doesn't show, you win. If he does, and you've prepared you claim with the proper backup you should win. In any case, again IMO, your an adult and you should act like one. About the crap on the property line, make a complaint to your local police or sheriff. They'll come out and investigate, and if you handle things calmly and explain what happened they'll issue a complaint.

Playing pranks on him wont get your truck fixed, or stop him from hanging things on the property line. I'll bet a summons and a visit from the local PD will.

Well said.

If/when he finds out what you're doing, things will only get worse.

Thanks for the votes, looks like I'll be buying 2 containers.

Getting back at someone can be fun, but imo, your going to make things worse if he catches you. Like mentioned above, get a police report before it is to late. What your doing, will never resolve your issue. Good luck.

Bob,

You've got a new truck, I would make a small claim with your local magistrate, but that would only get your truck back to even. The mosquitos are your personal "icing on the cake." After all, he is balking.

My next-door neighbor leaves a radio playing twangy country and western all the time. It's distracting when I'm out on my deck. When it gets to bothering me I jam it by plugging in a jacobs ladder under my house when everyone in my house is going to be out of town for a few days. You know the 30,000 volt neon transformer with a couple of wires attached and it arcs between the wires like in a Frankenstein movie? Well, it buzzes on radios for a hundred yards. I never say a word to anyone (til now.) Revenge is a dish best served cold.

My advice is to keep your mouth shut and throw the 2 containers at it. Doesn't sound like he's a good neighbor anyway. Who knows, he may not be able to stand the mosquitos and move.

I agree with lowrider, you had your fun. Any more and you are risking getting yourself in trouble. I would suggest following lowrider's advice. Either way, good luck.

Just for the record, if you are going to continue playing pranks and getting this guy covered with misquitos I would love to see some pictures of your efforts. :seeya:

I would add a little deer piss scent to your fun too, if he refuses to pay for it. The least you could get off him is a couple hundred bucks to make it all better!

QUESTION: What attracts mosquitos?

The attractant is perfectly legal. It's intended to be put in a bug zapper. A mosquito won't be attracted to a blacklight which is what a bug zapper relies on to work. You buy the attractant and put it in the zapper to attract the mosquitos and then they are electrocuted just like all the other insects. It has an effectives life span of about 30 days then needs replaced.

My neighbors have been a hemoride to me for over 15 years but my wife thinks I should just forget it and get along. The scratch is only visible if laying on the ground and using a bright flashlight, but I know it's there so I see it quite easily. I told her I was going to persue legal matters and we fought all weekend. I will not persue legal action but I will till the day I die attempt to make his life a living hell, one way or another.

I like your creativity of using the spray, but I would still insist that he fixes your truck. His property damaged your property, so he should have to pay.

You are in a crappy situation, but if your truck means a lot to you then he should fix it.

You need to make him pay for what has been done to your truck. I would get two estimates to get the scratch fixed and then go to him nicely and tell him you want your truck fixed. If he refuses tell him simply that your gonna take him to small claims court...Oh, take pictures their weight in court are gold....Then sprinkle two more containers.....Dont lay down on this....I would be irate if my neighbor had treated me this way knowing what kind of car/truck guy i am.....

What will the mosquitoes do when you're outside, and he's not? You're only going to make yourself miserable with this too.
