Recommended Posts

Hello, I have a 2008 gmc sierra, I installed a amplifier and subwoofers, and i have everything all working perfect, except i can't find a source for my remote turn on/off for the amp, i have been hooking it up to a constant power fuse, but overnight the truck goes dead, anyway, i can't seem to find a power wire which i can splice into, anyone have any suggestions?

I would use a low-voltage trigger like the PAC TR-4. By tapping into one of your speaker wires, it will give you a 12v remote turn-on output

i ran into the same problem

i ran a wire from the 12 volt power of the amp up to my dash above mt steering wheel used a toggle switch and they ran the wire back to the remote on the amp

works great and i have full control over when i do and don't want the extra bass

that sounds like it may work, I took my head unit out of the truck and tested too see which wires had power and just about every speaker wire had power, not sure if they turned off when i shut the unit off tho, i dunno if the door chime would have anything to do to affect this

I'd just tap a 12+ source and install a switch like stated above.

PITA to turn the switch on/off every time, but handy when entering residential areas or driving past puh-leece occifers and need to kill da baaaaaaass immediately. ;)

/odd spellings that serve no purpose.

yeah my gf uses the truck too, she would forget it too often along with myself, much rather something automatic, im gonna try the speaker wire idea i guess, see if that will work.

If you really wanted, you could put the switch between the trigger and the amplifier. That way it would still kill the power automatically, but you'd also be able to do it manually.

However, I would just get a bass controller for your amp. What amp do you have?

You can tap off the accessory under the fuse box under the hood which is a ignition. Or if you got the right pac adapter there is a turn on lead off it behind the radio. You dont need a switch.
