Truck Vs. Truck

I'm at a party the other night and my brother's, friend's, cousin is flapping his gums about how great his truck is. So, out of curiousity I ask, "what do you drive?" He tells me he's got a 2wd 1987 Chevrolet Silverado CC-LB dually, 454, th-400, 4.10 rear and it can tow anything! So I am picking his brain (if you can call that) and he keeps going on about how great it is with a shift kit and it has an edelbrock top end kit, yada yada yada. Then he asks what I drive and I tell him a 2003 Silverado 2500 and before I can finish my sentence he starts going on about how great big blocks are and I must love my 494 and yada yada yada. So I start laughing and he gets this dumb look on his face. Then he asks "why are you laughing?" I tell him its not a big block its a Duramax. He gets this angry look on his face and for whatever reason starts going off about how diesel sucks, they cant tow worth a crap, yada yada yada. Yeah, I'm getting kind of pissed at this point and tell him to knock it off (I was honestly trying to avoid an arguement) but he just wont shut up. So I finally tell him I have a $100 bill that says if we locked chains I could drag your truck. First thing out of his mouth; "you have 4wd, thats not a fair match." I simply state; "you have 4 wheels powering your truck, I have 4 wheels powering my truck, whats the problem?" I then remind him kindly that he just said diesels suck and cant tow, not to mention hes got 50 cubic inches and a 1000lbs on my truck. He got this really pissed look on his face and spewed out "I will think about it." :banghead:

What a punk. So my question to you my gm brotheren is, Who do you think would win?

Heres how I see it;

My truck;

Pros; 4WD, low range transfer case, diesel torque, aggressive tires, LSD front axle, locker rear axle.

Cons; Lower weight, 3.73 gears

His truck;

Pros; heavier weight, 4.10 gears, wider tires, LSD

Cons; 2wd, no low range, less torque

So for the long winded post but this guy really got me pissed.

NO contest. You would win. He has 2wd with duallies and little weight over them. You have way more torque, especially down low, and you should get far better traction with 4wd.

Take his money.

I want to. I told him whenever he decides to do it the offer is still on the table. I just hope he takes it.

Honestly; the only thing that has me nervous is that edelbrock "top end kit" he said he installed. Yes, he could have been blowing smoke, or he could have a complete intake, cam + heads combo and be making a lot more power then I think he is.

Guess what? No matter what, your truck will tow better, and use less fuel doing it. Oh, and it won't ride like a frozen turd.

And by the way, he's just jealous, that's the ONLY reason anyone would say "diesels can't tow worth a crap".

Pictures and/or video or it didn't happen! :banghead:

I will do my best. I really hope he accepts my challenge. I dont care about the money, I just want to see the look on his face when I pull his precious 1 ton with my 3/4 ton. :(

Yeah - Just make sure he doesn't have 500lbs of sand or something over the rear axle, to help that dualie dig-in some (or at least make more weight for you to drag around the field). :(
