Stock Wheel Size

After seeing how good the Rancho 4" lift looks on a steel grey GMT-900, I'm now considering it for my truck. I do want to utilize the stock wheels though, just upgrade the rubber. Here is my question. Are my stock wheels 17x8 with 5.5" of backspacing?

Achieving 4.5" of backspacing would require a different rim, correct?

It should say on your door jamb what the wheel size is. I know my OEM 18's are 18x8. I'm not sure if the 17's are 8" wide or 7.5" wide

Yes, you would need to buy new wheels that have 4.5" of BS. You could run 1" wheel spacers which in essence would be 4.5" BS assuming the aftermarket wheels are the same width/offset. However wheel spacers are NOT recommended. They can be dangerous via breaking off studs.

Your 17's are 7.5" width with 5.5" backspacing , i am considering doing the same to my CC

performancelifts.com has them on sale with the RS shocks - $1699 and with the XL shocks $1879

- shipped free

I found the kit with RS shocks, shipped free, for 1399.99 from 4wheelonline.com

I'm definately doing this once I convince myself that my current 33" Cooper Discoverer STTs are ready to go on Craigslist. Think I'll go with stock wheels and 35x12.5x17 STTs once the lift is on.

I'm trying to figure out if I can use my factory D20 Dub chrome wheels with the Rancho 4" lift. I see people running 17" factory wheels with the lift. I hate to part with these wheels. I like them and they are a factory upgrade from GM.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think you will have an issue, I am getting ready to put a leveling kit on my rig next week (not near as tall as yours) and am going to put 275/75/18 33.2/10.84 on my stockers. Lots of guys use their factory wheels so I don't think you'll have any issue. Here is a link to the calculator I have been using. Just scroll all the way down and input you stock size and size you are considering. Here's the link http://www.readylift.com/t-tire-calculator.aspx . Also, a buddy of mine has a leveling kit, 2 inch blocks in the back and runs 275/65/20's (34.07x10.83) without an issue. I noticed your in Dallas, so am I, I have been debating on which size to go with and called Discount Tire on Lemmon, and they are ordering a set of both sizes I'm considering and are going to test fit them. If all else fails just give them a call and ask for a test fitment. Hope this helped!
