Allblkdout07 Going Higher And Bigger

As the Rancho lift waits to be installed, I've been geting all the parts ready for the install.

Got all my stuff back from the bodyshop, shop did a great job.

So, finally got a few pics together. Mounted the black gloss painted inserts on one of the wheels, what a PITA to cut out several small pieces of 3M adhesive for each one of these.

I am probably going to paint the round centercap where the Ballistic logo is on these in black with a gloss clearcoat(like I did on my current wheels), I think it looks way cleaner, see the photoshop below. (I think daddy might appreciate this)

I had 42 s/s torx head bolts and 42 s/s washers that came with the fender flares also powdercoated black, as well as 32 s/s bolts and washers for the wheels to replace those God awful giant silver aluminum ones they came with. So that's 72 bolts heads and washers done, I heard it was a pain to loop each one to a s/s wire and tape off the threads..lol Black oxide steel bolts would rust in a few days. so, that's what you have to go through to be all black and stay looking good, cutting corners never works.

Painted Flares look great too. Bolted up my p'coated torx bolts/washers, used some blue loc-tite on each one so they don't come lose.

Shocks look great too, a far cry from the dirty, thin white paint they came with. I thought a warm charcoal grey metallic would look great with the truck.

Airbrushing is actually going to be redone believe it or not. Artist was complaining about the whole painting process being what he's not used to, the engine cover wasn't coming out great (II hated it, he wasn't happy with it), so he agreed to paint everything in a charcoal grey metallic that matches the shocks, then do it all in a style he's more comfortable with, which is fine by me, his regular style looks far better than what he was doing on the engine cover, I could tell he was struggling. He's actually quite happy, and I'm happy he's starting over too. The warm grey metallic basecoat under the airbrushing will really have a lot of life.

Thanks guys...Yes, it should be done by ETown don't see why it wouldn't be, or else I'm not going.

Hey, what do you guys think of countersunk black, socket head screw instead of the socket head bolts I used around the outer area of the wheel?

Dunno, guess you could start a new thread ...

Would they really look noticeably different except up close?

Looks like you're close, Umberto! It should look great.

I have to say though that the charcoal gray surprises me. It should look fine but I did not expect it.

As for the countersunk socket head screws, got any pics??? I'm inclined to say (and not to be a smartass) that while they might look good, being all black on an all black wheel, I doubt the difference they'd make would be great enough to warrant more work. IMO.

Haha..well the airbrusher is going to paint the parts in the same silver charcoal metallic and start over so it should all tie together nicely. For the first time in my life, I thought black gloss shocks would be too much black underneath the truck, I want them to stand out as aftermarket Rancho shocks.

That's what I was looking for, as long as the socket head bolts I have don;t look bad as they are.

They look just fine.
