Been hearing some grumbling lately about teams hiring a driver to run the road course races - just wanted to get some opinions on this.

I think that the team owners of the "also-rans" need to do whatever it takes to get their cars noticed. Most of them (77) are in the back due to lack of funds. No money, no wins.

If hiring Boris can get them a better finish, then maybe a big sponsor will notice and we can quit seeing the same 4 or 5 teams win races. look at how much better Andy Petree and Travis Carter's teams are doing after good finishes and a win.

The hired guns aren't exactly the highest caliber (sorry, couldn't resist. Get it? Guns, caliber, hardeharhar). If they were, they'd have their own ride running a full schedule, so I don't see a problem with it. It does kind of make it interesting to see how these guys are going to affect the rest of the 'regulars'. All-in-all, Boris did run a really good race, though.

I don't mind them at all. As long as they realize and respect that the Cup guys are going for a champinship and they don't mess with that. It's kind of neat to see how they stand up to the so called hired guns. Some of these teams need a good finish. If I was a owner I would do the same. But then again if I was a owner I would be driving my own car. And I would run the race.
