A few weeks ago when Miuke Wallace made his first start for Penske, I was praising him and Kenny and how ggod I thought they could be.  I was told not to give them too much credit, because they could never hold a ride before.  I think they started to show people now that if they're given a chance in a good ride, and not some second rate team, that they can compete with the best.  Kenny over came two flat tires to still finish 11th or 12th and Mike finished 2nd.  And they've both ran consistently well over the past few weeks.  Hopefully Mike will be in a Penske car next year fulltime, and somebody good will offer Kenny a job.

Mike Wallace almost pulled it off. If there had been another caution I think he would've gotten the lead back in the pits and won it.

And Kenny pulled off an "amazing feat" himself with that 11th or 12th place finish after the 2 flat tires.

Speaking of the flat tires, how about that?

What are yall's take on all the flats out there today.

Elwood, I have to agree with you on the Wallace Boys. BUT, I'm not ready to change my mind on them yet. Let's see some consistency over the rest of the season and I'll rethink it then.

I think Goodyear had a tire that couldn't take the heat. In GY's defense, it was 30 degrees warmer than they expected. IMO, it gives more credence to having the same tire at every track, every week. If the tire can hold up at Daytona in July, it will hold up everywhere they run.

It will also slow the cars at most of the tracks due to the harder compound and reduced traction.

Well I'm ready to eat my words about about Mike Wallace. I was one of the naysayers. I was wrong. Mind you, I didn't think he could succeed with Mayfield's TEAM, but he's given them a spark. He deserves credit.

I guess I'm chompin' on my foot, too regarding Kenny. He has the pole at the Rock this week. Definitely a track where you earn the pole.
