Not Happy This Morning

Well, I took my truck in for service. The transmission has what I thought was a minor leak around the pan. Well, I was wrong, its coming from between the engine and trans. Dealership comes out and tells me they have to drop the transmission and replace which ever seal is bad.

Not happy about the dealership molesting my truck. I've had zero issues with it till now.

This this is an easy job?

The rear main seal has been an issue on many GMT900's including my own. There are dozens of members who've had them replaced with no problems whatsoever. You'll be fine except for the fact you'll not be driving your truck for a day or two. :D

Don't sweat it!

Yes it is an easy job, just time consuming. IIRC its a common issue, and you should have no problems after the fix.

Nowhere does it say it IS transmission fluid. Also, the rear main seal is a known issue which makes it much more likely to be the issue.

I didn't clarify it clearly. It IS leaking transmission fluid and has been for the last 2 oil changes. The transmission pan bolts were wet each oil change, and I would wipe it down and snug up the bolts, but this time I had to add fluid and wipe the pan down again. So I figured I better get it in... figuring it would just be a pan seal.

I'm hoping its still a no brainer type job.

Yeah, but not sure why that is pertinent here? :D
