Quick Gauge Cluster Question

My wife said she was driving our 02 Yuk XL on a road in town the other day about 40 MPH and the battery light came on for just a second and the speedometer went from 40 to 0 and right back up to 40. She said it all happened in just a second or two.

 

I pulled the codes last night and none were set.

 

Any ideas at all?

My 03 had a bad instrument cluster, it had to be replaced, I know that it was a fairly common problem, just not sure if the 02's had the same issue or if it started in 03.

 

I bought a cluster off of E-Bay New and upgraded to one that had the Trans Temp Gauge, I like it a lot better and it has given me no problems, the truck now has 170K miles.

Hey Trey check the battery connections. That happened to me once and it turned out to be the positive (IIRC) battery connection. I took the bolt out and put some dielectric grease on it and put it back together. No prob since.

 

Give me a call later and I'll tell ya what was going on with mine but it sure sounds like what is happening with yours.

My truck did the same thing right after I first got it. Turned out to be a bad battery.
