Equinox Starting Problems

I have an 05 Equinox LT with the 3.4 v6. Sometimes when i go to start the vehicle, it fails to start. This vehicle you just turn the key and it does its own start cycle for a few seconds. Sometimes it does not start on the first try. It is driving my crazy. Can some one help me?

Put a fuel guage on it and see hoe long it holds pressure after you shut it off.

do you mean put a guage on it and turn the key on and build pressure and then turn the key off and see how long it takes it to lose pressure?

How many miles are on your Equinox? Have you replaced the fuel filter ? Air filter?

it has 62,000 on it. I have replaced the air filter but the fuel filter is in the tank.

My wife has an '05 and it does the exact same thing, unfortunately I havent found out anything either.

Run the car with the fuel guage on it. then turn it off and observe how much pressure you loose, and how much time it takes. I dont know what the spec is off hand, but most cars have a spec published in there service manuals for that.

This is a simple but $100.00 fix. GM screwed up the PCM programing in these. I have one that did the same thing. After I replaced the EGR Valve and EGR pipe, I spoke to the service tech and he stated the PCM needed to be flashed and that would solve the problem. This is very common with the 05's.

 

100 bucks and about an hour time at your dealer
