Wifes 4runner Tranny Shifting Question

Have a question non GM concerning my wifes 2008 4Runner. There is a 2-3 second delay when shifting from park to drive or reverse to drive. This does not occur all the time, only happened twice in the past four weeks. Any ideas?

That happened a every now and again with my '04 4Runner - traded last year. Never had an issue with it other than that.

Since it is an '08, it should be covered under warranty. Sounds like a solenoid sticking to me. You may want to visit a Toyota forum to get a better insight if others have experienced the same problems.

Just take it in, if you can easily duplicate the problem. Sounds like a typical Toyota delayed shifting tranny to me though, they'll probably tell you "it's normal" We had that same problem on my brothers old 89 Crapota Camary. And even after a full tranny rebuild at 120,000 miles.

Seems like our 95 4Runner did that, as well. Keep us posted.
