Steering Wheel Noise

I searched and was only able to find this. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?...ing+wheel+noise

I have a noise coming from the steering wheel. It actually reminds me of courdaroy (sp?) pants rubbing... I know I'm not the only one that remembers these! It only happens when I'm driving slow and usually when i'm parking or trying to get out of a parking spot. It does it when turning both right and left. I took it to the dealership and they advised me that it was a plate that's used to hold conductivity between the steering wheel controls and the truck's computer... I understand the concept, but I'm wondering if others have this same noise coming from their NBS 07. :P

I had a bearing replaced in my '04, but it was making more of a dry squeaking noise when you'd first turn the wheel backing out of the driveway primarily.

I occasionally get a squeak from my steering wheel while making slow speed sharp turns, usually a parking lot situation, and usually just when turning left. It doesn't do it all the time and isn't really reproducible so I haven't bothered to go to the dealer yet about it. Mine sounds more like a bearing issue.

Could be a number of things. Can you hear the noise when static steering (no vehicle speed)? If so, will the noise get louder the faster you rotate the column? I wonder if there are issues w/ the front of dash seal (where intermediate shaft passes through dash panel). Also, It could be the SIR coil.

is the truck still under warranty? If so, I would have the dealership diagnose & replace it. Seems that noise would be a nuisance in which the dealership would need to make it right. Note* If it is a bearing then you would need to replace the entire column (column bearings are not serviceable). Again I would fall back on my original question...

If it feels like it's sticking, you have what a few others have. I haven't found the cause and fix.
