Radio Will Not Stay On During Aux Power

I have a 2007 GMC Sierra SLE and when I put the key to the aux power, the radio stays on for only 10 minutes or shuts off when I open the door. How do I change the settings to keep the power on when the key is set to the aux positioning or is there something wrong with the ignition?

After that 10 minutes is up and when the radio shuts off, can you still open the windows or do any of the other things that would happen in the AUX position? If not, I would guess there is an issue with your ignition and its not recognizing the key in that position and the radio is running off of the RAP.

Should clarify that I have the key set to the on position, just before the start.

I think your right. I just checked and the windows will not operate when I open the door so the radio must be running off the RAP. Also to get the raido on without starting the engine, I'm required to put the ignition to the start position then back to the aux position.
