Erratic/non Working Tach

Recommended Posts

The tach in my 02 Yukon has become either extremely erratic or not working at all. It started yesterday without any warning signs or codes set. All other gauges ect. are working fine.

Any ideas?

Stepper motors in the cluster are starting to fail. Speedo will also fail soon.

Not sure if GM is still replacing these clusters but had been honoring warranty up to @ 70K miles. If not, they can be rebuilt. I had my Impala cluster rebuilt for @ $120 which included replacing all the motors and light bulbs.

If it is erratic, it could be either your plugs or wires, just a thought.
