Mb Wheels - Gunner 6 20's

I came across what seems to be a pretty good deal on some 20" MB Gunner 6 wheels last night. But, before I pull the trigger, I thought I'd see if anyone has any experience with these wheels and/or know of anything good, bad, or ugly about them? My primary concern is fitment (backspacing, offset, etc.)

As best as I can tell, the offset is 25mm. From what I've been reading the OEM wheels have a 30mm offset. Would I just need to add a 5mm spacer to make them fit right or are there other issues and considerations I should be thinking about?

Ive seen those on a few trucks here. MB is Discount Tire's house brand I believe. The look to be well made. +25 offset wheels will work fine on your truck. No spacers or anything needed. (Adding a 5mm spacer would actually result in +20mm) My wheels are 20x9 +20mm and they fit like they came with the truck.

Thanks for the info! The last time I put after-market wheels on a car was in the late 80's. The primary concern for me back then was "do they have the right bolt pattern!?" Now, I'm reading all this stuff about offsets and backspacing and suspension geometries and all of that... It seems a lot more involved than "Yeah, I like those. Do they fit my car? Ok, here's your money, mount 'em up!"

there's some issues with hub-centric versus lug centric. I believe our wheels are hub centric. A poor fitting wheel will cause vibration, etc...

True. You should always install hub centric rings when running aftermarket wheels. It seats the wheel "on center" and makes for a much smoother balance plus a more secure mount.

Wouldn't your local Discount Tire or wherever do that by default? That way, you're not coming back to them time and time again for vibration and "wheel balance issues" (even though the wheels may actually be properly balanced)..?

(You never know what type of employee you will be dealing with) Discount Tire here has some pretty good guys working for them.

BTW, If those wheels look anywhere nearly as nice as that new exhaust does you should be stylin'.

We'll see. At this point, I'm a little hesitant. I found the wheels listed on Craigslist and I haven't seen any good pictures of them yet. It looks like he took the pictures in the garage with very bad lighting. It makes the wheels look kind of discolored, to be honest with you.

He's supposed to send some better pictures tonight. If he does and if we move ahead to a meet & greet, I'll ask about the hub centric rings. I sure don't want to get what I "think" is a good deal and then find out I need to spend MORE money to make them work right.

Thanks for the kind words about the exhaust. I've been going back & forth about the wheels a lot more than I did on the exhaust. I know I want chrome, spoked wheels. But, I don't want anything that's over-the-top or with too much "bling" (i.e. ghetto). Every time I go look at new wheels, when I find what I like, they end up being about $400-$500 each .. and that's just crazy, in my head and as far as my checkbook is concerned.. especially when I'll also have to buy new tires, on top of that!

So, that leaves me trying to work within a budget, which has pretty much left me looking for used and/or replica wheels. I "thought" I had found some nice GM replica wheels from an '06 for a decent price. But, then I read a post on here about a bulletin from GM to not mix & match wheels from one year with a truck from a different year. So, I backed off of that idea...

I'm probably just over-thinking the whole thing. But, when we start talking about many many Ben Franklins, I start thinking a lot lot more.

I wanted to originally buy the MB Gunner 6 wheels but ended up with MB Blitz wheels instead. I still to this day like the Gunner 6, I just got a helluva deal on the Blitz wheels. As far as hub centric goes, I know on the MB Blitz wheels it was a different model # for hub centric vs. non-hub centric. But I'm certainly not an authority on wheels. I'm just telling you my experience.

I like to get the hubcentric wheels...rings are just plastic. I think the hub size is 78mm.

That explains the two different part #'s on their website! I had been wondering why there was one part # that had HR in it and another with HC in it. I have no idea what HR means, but I bet HC is Hub-Centric. Although, just guessing at it like that, I could definitely be wrong about that, too...

Thanks for explaining that. I've been all over the Discount Tire website, trying to figure out why one was HR and the other was HC. They were the same price and everything "seemed" the same about the wheels. But, there was no explanation about the part #'s.

I have a Discount Tire just up the street. I may run down there in the morning and talk to them about the wheels. Maybe they can tell me what to look for to make sure "which" wheels this guy is trying to sell... hub-centric or lug-centric.

I just looked at the Blitz wheels on their site. Nice. I like the look of the Sennas, too, but I think the straighter spokes of the Gunner 6's may complement the lines of the truck a little better.

I have had them on my truck for 2 years now. beware of the clear coat as I had one replaced under warranty due to it bubbling. Just keep an eye on that. no problems and they fit well. Cheesey plastic center cap. I run 33" nitto mud grapplers on them. Oh yes they are the black version wheels. I get a lot of compliments on the look. Just ready for some quieter tires now. will go bf goodrich all terrain on the 20" wheels next since they have been released.

Oh yea, I got a good deal on them also. told them I did not want to spend over $2000 and got rims tires warranty ith locks for $1999.96 after taxes. Keep in mind the tires were over $300 per. i think they had the wheels marked at $140 per. just wanted you to realise they will deal with you if they want the sell.

Thanks for the info, ssjeff. I picked up the wheels late last week, from a local guy. I should've thought of it, but I didn't really even think about going to Discount Tire and telling them "I want this and that and this is all I'm gonna pay."

At the moment, I'm waiting for the tires to come in. Discount didn't have what I wanted in stock (and I'd much rather deal with someone local "if" I ever have to do a road hazard claim, etc.), but the guy got on the computer and found a set in California. They should be here this coming Friday or next Monday. I can hardly wait!
