222,000 Mile Service 9/10/2023 Oil Change 2,000-mile OCI actual. 2 ounce makeup. Actually, it didn't move on the stick, but I'll call it an ounce to prevent charting infinity. 3.75-quarts Shell Rotella T6 5W40 1-quart HPL SAE40-EC 1 Purolator PL15436 filter The FRAM TG9018 came apart. Hat releasing from the media. 3,250 miles. Adhesive failure would be my guess. Oil was dark but not black. Still slick with good body. Not scientific but shade tree tip of the hat. Smells awful; like the oil in most of these gas fired popcorn poppers. Never really noticed until Pepper got on alcohol. She set a high bar. 1,921 miles on 64.112 gallons of E-10 87 RU = 29.96 mpg for this interval. Long haul tanks were stellar. 31/32 mpg. Around town dampened the average. Cooler windier fall weather will start to have an impact. I can already see it. Oil consumption based on fuel is back to better than the NORMAL Engineering Standards of 0.03-0.05% of fuel. This last tank the best of the last two in range or better at 0.0117% of fuel. Last was also in spec and the two before just missed. Given her age I don't see the OCI getting any longer than 2K so the current mix of Shell Rotella T6 and HPL-EC will be her tonic for as long as I have a supply. On todays Trek. This Locust Road in southern De Kalb County. Wife thought I was driving up someone's driveway. Glad we didn't meet anyone. Nowhere to turn around nor room to slide by. No need to mow this one2 points

Upfitter docs have some more info. Looks like 40 minutes with fob in truck and 20 minutes if fob taken away Service mode in the OM seems similar to Run Mode in the Upfitter docs. From 2023 1500 upfiitter docs: Push Button Start The ignition mode switch has 2 LEDs that indicate the vehicle power mode Amber for Accessory Mode and Green for Run or Start/Propulsion Modes. When the vehicle is in the OFF mode, both LED’s will be OFF. Momentarily pressing the S38 On/Off Vehicle Switch button once, brake pedal not applied, the vehicle will enter into the Accessory Mode and the Amber LED will illuminate. The Accessory Mode will timeout after approximately 5 min to help reduce battery drain. With the ignition OFF, brake pedal not pressed, then pressing and holding the S38 On/Off Vehicle Switch for 5 s will place the vehicle in Run Mode (Ignition ON without the Propulsion Mode Active). The vehicle will stay powered up for approximately 40 minutes if the transmitter is in range, or 20 minutes if the transmitter is out of range, and the Green LED will illuminate. With the ignition OFF brake pedal pressed, then press and release the iS38 On/Off Vehicle Switch, the vehicle will enter Start/Propulsion Mode and the Green LED will illuminate, the engine will crank and the engine will be running for Internal combustion engines (ICE), or Propulsion mode will go Active on Electric Vehicles (EV). The Propulsion Mode will timeout after approximately 30 minutes if the transmitter is in range, or 15 minutes if the transmitter is out of range. The timer will stop when the vehicle is shifted out of PARK or the brake pedal is pressed and released, the timer will reset after the vehicle is placed back in PARK with the Propulsion Mode Active. Both LED’s have the voltage supplied from the body control module (BCM). The ignition mode switch sends the ignition mode switch status to the passive entry passive start module (PEPS) and to the BCM. The PEPS module sends a redundant signal to the BCM with the ignition mode switch status2 points

Today, I am excited to have paid off my 2018 in 58 months vs. the 72 months I financed it for. However, the current interest rates are keeping me from shopping for a new GMC.2 points

I decided to get a new 1500 last year. At first I looked at the Denali, but the lack of max trailering was a deal breaker. I ended up with a Silverado 1500 LTZ 4x4 short bed with 6.2, multiflex tailgate, tech package, and max trailering. I skipped the sunroof, bed liner and running boards. The payload sticker says 1826 pounds. The truck pulls very well, much better than my 2010 Yukon Denali AWD 6.2 that also had max trailering. I've crossed the continental divide in Colorado four times so far and I'm very impressed the cooling system. Towing my 7100 pound TT (also a 25 foot AS) from Copper Mountain to the Eisenhower tunnel, my Yukon's tranny temp went from 150 at the Dillon exit to 250 at the tunnel. I did the same trip this year in the SIlverado, the tranny temp went from 136 to 172! If you do go for the Denali, don't forget the carbonPro bed gives you some extra payload. By the way, the 837 pound tongue weight quoted by Airstream is not a real-world number. My 25FB's tongue weight fully loaded for a long trip is over 1100 pounds. (I have added four solar panels, a 1000 watt inverter, and replaced the original batteries with a pair of group 27 AGMs; but even without those changes, I'd probably be over 1000 pounds)2 points

That's definitely my issue too. I never plugged anything in upside down, but have the issue where I'm getting voltage on the running light pin on the truck even with the relay and fuse for that circuit removed. I go in for this NEXT week so hoping the dealer can turn this around quickly without having to keep my truck.1 point

Everybody's want's, need's and budget are different. There is a reason why GM offers 4 powerplants in the 1500's.1 point

Bricks and concrete blocks can decide to 'crumble' or crush. They are not a substitute for jack stands or solid hardwood blocking.1 point

True. My thoughts are, that the owner told the dealer the 7way cord was put in upside down. By the admission of the owner in the video, I immediately thought...that's not a warranty issue. If this is the case of honesty, I agree with the dealer. ETA... I believe my dealer would run this scenario thru warranty for me. Just to make me happy. But in the long run, I think warranty work increases the price of new vehicles for everyone.1 point

I'm sure there is a voltage drop test I could perform but I cannot find what values to expect in doing so. Either way, is this another vote for replacing the battery cable? Yesterday I went ahead and checked over the junction box under the truck and unplug thr harness connections and all of them looked clean and they were snug. I also checked the bcm connections along with the brake switch. I read that there is a ground to the left of the steering column under the knee bolster. I plan to look into this asap. I should mention that we live in the North where our roads get pounded with rock salt. Needless to say, our trucks get rusty.1 point

2x on the Rino ramps. The 10k rated ones. Been using them for years on my old Yukon and Tahoe and no issues on the first oil change on my Silverado. Safe and secure. Put it in 4 low and all the trucks just creeped right up on them.1 point

Yes, they are covering all of it. But I am going to see if they will let me pay the difference for the new bumper/grille guard combo I posted the other day, Instead of putting stock back on.1 point

Hope you read this before going to dealer and spending your money. Trailer module. Looks like the 7-way was plugged in upside-down at some time. 12+ feeding parking lights and won't charge trailer batteries.1 point

After doing some reading some claim the majority of corrosion is found right inside of the crimp. Some had great success with just doing the end but I will try the entire cable. RockAuto has 2 positive cables, I'll look under my hood this morning and make sure I order the correct one. Isn't there some sort of voltage test or drop test I can perform to see if its in fact the cable?1 point

the should have instructions on their site for removing the overhead panel. You will need plastic trim removal tool to pop off the two curved plastic pieces to access t5 star head screws. Then use the trim tool to pop it loose from the roof. Having done their P&P harnesses on a few vehicles, the hardest part is disconnecting the OEM harness connections, especially if you have bigger hands. Don't be afraid to use channel lock pliers if you need help depressing the connection release, just be careful.1 point

I chose the 6.2 for my 2022 RST Z71 refresh truck, and I literally bought it about two weeks ago. I never post much but I joined this site right after I bought a brand new 2017 LT Z71 w/5.3 6 spd. FFW to March 2019 I traded in on a new LTZ 6.2 Z71. Holy crap no more sluggish driving and shifts (and way better power). The 2017 5.3 6 speed never seemed to know what gear to be in going up the hill to my house and 19 6.2 10 speed solved the issues. I have never driven a 5.3 with the 10 speed and I'm sure it's a fine engine though. FFW to June of 2021 and I decided to upgrade to the latest Ford F150 with the Powerboost drivetrain in a Lariat high trim (74K almost with a spray in Rhino liner). You can't go wrong with 430 HP and 570 FT LBS of torque, right?!? I have had many Ford trucks and cars (loved most) in my life over 53 plus years and have to say this was the WORST experience with a vehicle I have ever had. I totally never got what I paid for in this "job 1 truck" bluecruise never worked, added gremlins from not updating, scored driveshaft from insulation rub, loudest rapping noise you've ever heard from the transmission on a cold start under a certain cold temp, and fords inability to ever solve any of the issues. Being back in this refreshed 6.2 glacier blue metallic RST is like a breath of fresh air! Here comes the Borla exhaust again and great sound!!1 point

5.3 in my new Trail Boss. I would love a 6.2 but with gas at $4.09 a gallon for regular today I dont want to spend all of my money on premium fuel. My 2021 TB Custom was a great truck but the 5.3 with the 6 speed never felt "strong" mushy shifting and the tranny never felt hooked into gear. Before anyone corrects me I will state that I could not order the 2023 Custom Trail Boss wth the 6.2. This new 5.3/10 speed combo is amazng! Feels like much more power. I am sure the extra gears just keep the engine in the powerband better. I just got it piped so I am sure it will even get better.0 points
