  1. How do those flushing machines work when we have trans thermostats. I was under the impression they don’t work with ours.
  2. So interesting update now it seems my heat is not working well, well maybe. So it’s 59 degrees out, truck is fully warmed up. Heat is set to auto and hi. -fan is running at full tilt -no air coming out of front/main vents -very little air coming out of defrost -a lot of air coming out of footwells -I can switch it to the individual vents manually and they all work fine. The blend door is working. -cabin filter is new and there is plenty of air flow -When I had the heat set to 77 auto, and the truck was like halfway warm (certainly warm enough to pump out warm air), it was still cold inside the cabin, and almost nothing was coming out as if it thought the cabin was already 77. so weird when you guys have heat on auto does nothing come out of the main vents?
  3. Yeah I’ve mentioned that before as well, but big brakes do have importance. I doubt the stockers could handle a panic stock from 140mph or even come close to multiple full brake applications, like say aggressive driving or a race track. As unlikely as that stuff sounds, I personally think its wise to always have the brakes be able to handle the engine. After all, brakes simply convert kinetic energy into heat, and then dissipate that heat. The source of kinetic energy is the engine. More power should mean more brakes, in theory. Granted these are trucks and 99.9% of the time you’ll be fine with the stockers regardless of how your driving and how much power you have since you better have a lot more mods if your way past 100mph or on a circuit track.
  4. Oem brakes are fantastic imo Not sure how much extra power, but keep in mind the brakes are engineered to operate with considerably more weight than stock if your going FI, big brake kit for sure. If your going bolt ons, and your driving mostly unloaded, I would probably try keeping the stockers
  5. Modern cars have what’s called a can bus system that allows all the computers and sensors to communicate with each other. It allows a lot of features, functionality and safety measures that would otherwise be impossible. While it’s not impossible to LS swap a k2xx, it is so difficult that the cost and time would far far exceed any savings or benefit that can be had from the swap and you would probably be going with a custom dash with custom gauges.
  6. Ls swap a k2xx....nope CAN bus
  7. So if I take it to the dealer, are they going to swap the fluid out with the new stuff? I’d rather not pay for that stuff.
  8. Gotcha so I have a problem. hmmm do I diy recharge or take it to the dealer?
  9. Yeah but shouldn’t the cabin eventually get to 70 degrees and kick the fans down regardless? fan was running at full tilt for 30 minutes
  10. So my 2014 AC went bad about 2 years ago as they all do, had the dealer make the repairs. Recently on a 97 degree day I was parked outside in the sun doing some work, and had the AC set on auto to 70. Even though I was sitting for about 30 minutes, the fan just ran on full blast the entire time and it never seemed to get comfortable inside. I don’t remember the AC ever having trouble keeping up regardless of the temp outside. Just curious if your guys trucks can handle that no problem. It doesn’t seem that cold anymore and I suspect there is a pinhole leak. But I guess it could also be all in my head.
  11. Justin from blackbear street tuned my truck in person. While analyzing the stock tune data...... I quote “wow you’re not getting any knock, you have good gas in nj” i have a 6.2 and was using 93. Considering he’s probably read more Live LT knock sensors than anyone in the world, it’s probably pretty accurate to say most people with stock 6.2’s are getting knock and pulling timing on 93! He highly recommended I stay with 93 for the tune. I don’t think the brand of fuel matters at all for knock. i think the quality is regional. He said DC area has the best fuel. Yeah filling with premium sucks. I probably get the worst mpg on the forum because of the dense suburbia I live in. If I had a 5.3 I would try to go lower octane, but with a 6.2 your stuck with 93 imo.
  12. I’m not all that concerned with the reliability. I don’t doubt the cooler one has the edge there. I’m mostly concerned with efficiency if it’s 150-160 in the summer, and then 130 in the winter, I’d imagine 130 vs 190 has a pretty big difference in fuel economy
  13. I’m more curious about the winter temps, i would have zero concern if it was summer all the time
  14. GM Pickups dont have the ride quality but yeah I used to have a tahoe, thing road like butter. Had ****** for payload but it sure was comfy.
  15. Yup I’ve come to realize there is a wide range of quality in these trucks. Not sure if it’s because of sloppy tolerances or because they are built in different places. I have to admit I wouldn’t expect the engine to be one of those places where you’re rolling the dice. Usually everything is precision machined.
  16. I read it again, I still don’t understand they never put a 6.0 in a 2014-2015 camaro, it was a 6.2L ls3, and the supercharged zl1, and the v6. there was no 6.0 motor and there was no LT motor in the camaro prior to 2016 so again, I ask the same question, how does an ls oil pan fit an LT motor
  17. Yeah until it looses itself up and the only way to fix it is to take the pan off again
  18. LS pans fit on lt motors? Never would have expected that
  19. make a new thread not enough info either, did the oil end up on the ground? I’d ask the mechanic what is wrong with the motor, he must know if he said it needs to be replaced
  20. 2014 denali is light years ahead of the 2013 denali. infact there’s hardly any difference between the 2014 denali and the 2020 denali. 2013 is a dinosaur. It’s a reliable dinosaur though. Get the 2014 for sure. If AC already was already fixed and all the recalls done, it will be just as reliable as any other k2xx.
  21. You can buy aftermarket springs, which aren’t cheap. I think someone in this forum did a writeup of removing the overload springs though and it made it softer. You should find it.
  22. So our springs are designed for a 2k lb load in the bed. Then you add airbags on top of that. the key to a nice ride with air bags.....reduce the spring rate of the leaf springs and then adjust the airbags to compensate for the weight.
  23. I’ve read all your logic on this thermostat being worthless. And it does make sense, and it’s possible. But on the flip side, that would mean an entire team of engineers are complete morons. This thermostat is on one if the highest gross revenue vehicles in the world. Surely there was many calculations and people involved when deciding to add this thermostat. My guess -80% chance there is an advantage and we don’t know about it -10% chance they are intentionally trying to reduce life of the transmission. -10% chance they are all morons Maybe we should get to the bottom of it and class action them if it was devious in nature. I would be pretty pissed if that was the case. I’d take a week off of work and dos attack whoever was responsible.
  24. 1/2 ton with 6.2 here, I randomly found the thread! Muhahaba Obligatory obnoxious, but probably true, post coming If the trailer wheels didn’t fall off, I bet I could pull that trailer up that incline at 100mph
