  1. My 2015 had this leak. Found it to be leaking around the seal not through it. New seal with a smear of RTV clear on the O.D. then drove it in. Leak free since. 10 years now. Didn't know about the torque spec. I used a witness mark.
  2. You and a few million other husbands.
  3. Egg Variations I've done about 3 previous post on scrambled and omelet eggs and focused on getting the eggs to turn out. I don't want to rehash that but I hit on some filler combinations that turned out very nice. Pepper Jack. But buy a block and shred it yourself. I do about an ounce per two eggs. Pair that with a small amount of jarred red roasted peppers finely chopped and well drained. If you are dong the omelet let the eggs skin before adding the cheese and it will melt right into the eggs without burning to the pan. If scrambled wait until about half done and it will fold in smoothly and just before they finish a pat of cold butter folded in. Garnish with sweet Paprika and hold the black pepper. Remember, don't over cook the eggs. Not soupy but moist. This comes out sweet, warm and silky. Smoked pork is a nice side. Soft Goat Cheese. is more savory and pairs with pitted salt cured Kalamata olives nicely. Olives on the side not in the eggs. As above and it will melt into the eggs and disappear from site but not the tastebuds.
  4. Quite some years ago (2005) I bought a Royal Enfield Bullet 500 motorcycle. They were built in India from the 1948 English patterns and suffered little more than moving from 6 volt positive ground to 12 volt negative ground since. I have other bikes. Modern bikes and this Enfield is the one I rode not just to town but cross country. First time I put a leg over and felt that familiar big single pulse and my ear heard that unique thump-thump-thump it put a smile on my face I could not wipe off. You don't 'ride' an Enfield. You command it and it eagerly listens and responds. Just don't ask it for something it can't give and you will fall for it head over hells. It has a 'quality' none of my American or Asian bikes even comes close to replicating. Sadly production was ended 2009. End of day I wiped her down, fretted out the lifters, cables, brakes and chain and grinned like the Cheshire cat. A machine you could have a relationship with and not just a putty knife like tool in the box. She's in the garage waiting for me.
  5. I mentioned to a friend the other day, "I like conversation but not so much confrontation." I enjoy talking to my wife but I don't like fighting with her. And yet it will happen from time to time. We don't have a @txab at home. I've been on several sites over the years. Got bounced off a few. Moderated a few. It's tough job and not everyone is well suited for the job. We have a gem of a moderator.
  6. Final decision. Red Line Non-Slip CVT Fluid for the G-4. $5 a quart cheaper than Mitsubishi fluid. $7 off factory direct. Within penny's of AMSOIL with my discount. Meets all specs for CVTF-J4. Red Line has a good track record of getting the friction package perfect. Very high VI. More 100 C viscosity and yet a lower pour point and 40 C viscosity.
  7. I knew someone had a match
  8. Texas has first world problems . Welcome to the "Patch". That's some cheap gas. I'm jealous.
  9. THIS is why Politics & Religion as topics on their face, are dangerous. The rational brain isn't wired to process the irrational and gets angry and the irrational brain isn't wired at all and gets hurt. Now there's the makings of a Molotov Cocktail. Anyone got a match?
  10. I almost fell out of my chair. You mean like the Bible? Don't worry. Few pay it much attention. PS. I enjoyed your post.
  11. I hope you see the humor in that boss man. 'Religion' is an identifier to let others know how and too whom or what we worship. That is, "We are devoted to". Human's by nature have a spiritual need. You never see a family of squirrels sitting on a log in front of an old wise owl giving a sermon on XYZ. (dodging a bullet less I miss being funny). And humans will worship more than a deity. A large segment of humanity worships money. Possessions. Power. Fame. But point is, we all worship something. Somethings we can talk about and some we cannot. SO....what we really mean is we discourage unapproved religious and political topics. Grandmother gave me two jobs in life. Be in the way and make things difficult. I'm really good at both. Grams is proud.
  12. A few weeks ago $2.94 was the local bottom at Love's. Today $3.29
  13. My oldest car is a 2009 and hasn't a backup camera nor a computer screen/infotainment center. Our 2014 has all of that but the camera is of poor quality and it hasn't what the wife calls 'bendy' lines. The 2015 has a better camera and 'bendy' lines. And a touch screen. Our newest, a 2024 has a TV quality camera without bendy lines and Apple Car Play, Nav etc. My favorite is the 2009. Even at my age I can get my head around and my mirrors work. My CD player plays what I want, when I want it, advertisement free. It is also the most reliable and comfortable vehicle of the bunch and quite economical. The HVAC system is incredible. It's also a CAR. LOL. New is nice and has advantages and yet a good majority of so called advantages aren't really. My wife has been in IT for better than 30 years. Loves her work and is frustrated by it at the same time. We have always had the cutting edge at home, as Phil says, for a hot second. Yet my favorite sits behind me in our office. Not particularly fast but air gapped to run programs and runs flawlessly. Haven't run a update in a decade or more. No updates interrupting my simple work applications. No processor overload from installed upgrades filling up the system or upgrades that run at faster design speeds than my system is capable of. I need a stone axe. I bought a stone axe and I've had it for over 20 years. IF my job were in medical research the a lightning rod would be appropriate but that system is just 'bling' for running a spreadsheet or word processor. And there in lies a view we don't like to look at. We like being looked at, so, we buy what gets us noticed instead of what we need. A guy can save allot of money in a lifetime if can hold his vanity in check.
  14. Drill down on the etymology of words like Politics and Religion. The later is outside the boundaries of human ability and the later is corrupt to the point it is unrecognizable but not unknowable; just takes a honest hungry humble heart. Something few possess. I'm an avid student and will freely admit I struggle with summiting to anything. Knowing that keeps me from acting foolishly.....most of the time.
  15. Were you feeling ignored? Thanks for the interjection.... No, i don't, but as Nick thought it funny, I'll let him go first. I see he's reading but not replying. I'll offer this much as a dough starter. We HAD very good bases more than 50 years ago. We don't use them and it isn't because someone found them deficient. They found them less profitable. It was what the Castrol/OXM war was fought over. Since then marketing has smeared them with misinformation and disinformation which I have repeatedly pointed out over the years I've posted here and substituted some very good bases with much cheaper and less effective ones once the LAW and SCIENCE was rewritten to allow pleather to be called leather and reformed oils to be called synthetic while keeping Joe Schmoe in the dark. m-POA and GTL are newer and largely unremarkable. The former because few use it and the later because of limited supply, narrow viscosity range and there are others that perform better. We have classes of renewables the API fights tooth fang and claw. Add regulators reversing 50 years of additive technology and no clear replacement....yea. We peaked a few decades ago. The rest is smoke and mirrors. In example, Dexos1Gen3 cleanliness standards for the license are a fractional improvement that any polar oil has been beating by twenty fold for about 70 years. Straight up dog and pony show silly. Mobil 1 at one time was a world benchmark. Now it's competing at Wally World on it's laurels. Priced and performing like most other Big Box Store oils. 90% of which I wouldn't run half the OEM severe schedule. It is pitiful. Almost criminal.
  16. "Better" is a funny word. Implies improvement in excellence or improvement in quality. Some issues with this idea are 1.) both excellence and quality are normally subjective and abstract terms. 2.) Better is transitory by definition if you keep mind that BEST is the goal. i.e. there is always something better??? One can eliminate some of the fuzzy logic for this word by establishing a standard or reference. Problem with that method is that it, by definition as above, 1.) is a snake eating its own tail. Transitory once the standard is met and a new standard defined. 2.) The standard itself is arbitrary and not often definitive. 3.) Unless the subject of better is limited to a single attribute it's meaning becomes compromised. 4.) The standard for better can and will become subject to ideologies driven by regulation, profit, power, market share, brand recognition, blah, blah, blah. 5.) Something as complicated as oil has a myriad of attributes that are, more often than not, in direct opposition to each other. IF better bends it's will to #4 above, the entire vocabulary becomes corrupt. i.e. it looses meaning, becomes dilute and functionally unresponsive. So... Again, quantify please and be specific.
  17. Can you quantify this statement? Specifics please.
  18. Second verse, same as the first. Let it go or loose it. I don't think Admin is playing kids.
  19. This be me pumping the brakes guys. Admin just tapped me on the shoulder so we can get back on topic OR the tread will get locked down. I prefer it isn't. So let's put the stick in some other none political pot. No pointing, no blaming, just poly-silence.
  20. In a pi$$ing match both parties get wet.
  21. I said I'm not having an irrational argument with you? You are too intelligent to be this thick. THINK Stanley THINK. Now, if you must. Have the last word. Be my guest.
  22. Let's circle back a few pages to this.... So he lies. He tells you he's lying and you still think that even when he admits to a lie : he's telling the truth? Go back to the first quote and tell me how I can not possibly draw that conclusion. You have zero defense and yet you insist. Stan, do you remember my stance on IRRATIONAL ARGUMENTS? Well, you leave me no choice and yet you had one.
  23. Yea, that's the reason. So, researchers are at fault? For nine years? Lets run that down the rational rabbit hole with the actions in example of a guy named Joe Schmoe. 1.) Joe hires researchers and they feed him lies, he fires them. Still he hired them and once in awhile someone can fool the best of us. Granted. But if Joe goes many years, a decade say, and can't hire a good ones, then, he's incompetent. Period, full stop. 2.) If Joe doesn't fire them and keeps them knowing they are unreliable, he's Incompetent. Period, full stop. 3.) If they are competent and feed Joe the truth and he ignores it, then he's just choosing to lie and am by definition a liar. So Stan, which one is it? You choose. Is a Joe incompetent or a liar. Why you making this personal? The topic is TRUTH not Trump. It is the topic of the ENTIRE THREAD.
  24. One of the few people that gets me and I can disagree with without a body count. Thank you Terry, dead on. As true as that may be, lying to make a point doesn't make a point. I foments distrust. That IS the point. Spinning lies doesn't make them more palatable. Doesn't make them more trustable. Supporting liars does elevate your position. Look, truth is MY POINT. My only point. ( @txab) He's just the setup. He makes making my points easier. This is the most powerful man on the planet currently. If this is the playbook then why would anyone think less powerful persons welding the power of marketing would be one iota less intentional and deceptive? You think OEM's and Oil blenders are more truthful? Held to what standards? To what measure? How about food and medicine? He's not special. He's just bold. They all are. Proof isn't likes or pod casts or even a wish. These are just people that have forgotten they stand before their creator where their lies are laid bare and the piper exacts his due. They can NOT hide!
