  1. if you get a chance have a mechanic do a cylinder pressure test or if possible a more elaborate leak down test. . i'm amaized at how much oil you guys seem to capture.. If i was throwing ideas out I would swap in a new pcv valve. no guarantee but its cheap test next pull all spark plugs and see if any are dark or oily. one member pulled his plugs and found the AFM cyclinders where getting fowled.
  2. you guys should be glad your not BMW owners...lol those cars are made from recycled plastic, that's been recycled a dozen times prior to final manufacture
  3. after your tune, what temp does the trans operate at when warmed up?
  4. what makes the Tesla superior is torque. Auto makers use to produce big motors before the 70's that made torque like the Tesla. i dont think the public cares about the energy efficiency, judging by the way we drive on the highways. i find new cars have very low torque and high Horsepower. this contributes to the stressfull driving experience on our roads. dont believe me go drive a vintage Caprice with a 454 or 396. with highway gears, man talk about relaxing commuter!
  5. i like the Raptor wheels myself, i doubt they fit but just curious whats the bolt pattern on those?
  6. they do make an offroad track exhaust for these trucks, $500-800.. muffler shop could make one up for $250. instead of destroying a $1000 exhaust system. just sayin'....
  7. post a picture when you get the m installed, what about TOyota or Raptor wheels?
  8. try using a thicker oil, get rid of the 0-20 watery oil and run 5w-30 see if this fixes the oil consumption issue you have
  9. CR works for the same group of corporate media owners who tell us Biden won the elections fair and square, lol I'm amaized they also rated the Tesla so low, yet another American company CR dislikes, is this a trend?
  10. my next big upgrade to the transmission will be dropping the temp threshold window for the engine cooling fans. This is another factor in maintaining heat resistance. even as i run a 175 stat, stop and go traffic causes the engine to get up to 205 F , its not til i'm on the highway that i can cool the transmission by utilizing the radiator heat exchanger. i'll let you know my discoveries. this weekend i drove 80 miles at 70 mph, nonstop it held a constant 125 F all the way out of town. with NO aux trans cooler! just 1/8" restrictor in the bypass system funny thing is my 2012 Sierra 2500HD with factory tow package also operates at 120-125F and that truck has a monster trans cooler from the factory
  11. i would try the popular Camaro Forums it might have more members that have done the research already on 8-10 speed upgrades repairs etc.. those guys might be more performance and hands on than most members here
  12. i'm not an oil man like you grumpy, but what is a friction modifier, and what do they do in the case of a transmission vs and engine?
  13. after awhile we get tired of helping others who dont bring anything to the table.. kinda like a relationship, participate or GTFO.. alot of time the answer has been given over 100 times and no one response to those who dont search
  14. I would contact a professional transmission builder, they know what the good parts are and where to get them. do your own due diligence..
  15. why 10 speed? those things suck so much power because they weigh a Ton , so much more money for those too, I would fix what you got. I think going to a 4L80 mechanical or electronic is a better option,
  16. You can actually. Goat Rope Garage showed how to install a Camaro with manual transmission software into your 8 speed truck. and run a built 4L80
  17. check for any known TSB's 8 speeds have tech issues in software and i'm sure a pro shop knows whats up. call Precision Transmission in TX he might might know where to point you to. he does quality work but i think he's only into older transmission. 806) 372-2210 also a tuner might be able to reflash it , and do a recal on it and purge cycle. this might work, GM dealer might be able to do this too
  18. you got the part number for the cts on your parts reciept?
  19. isn't the CTS-V and ZL1 the same? Good to know it works without a tune, i'm sure it will get better with corrected programming. i would down load the zl1 or cts trans file and anylize the stock parameters and compare that to your trucks file. and try and mimic GM's tune for that set up keep an eye on your trans temp. where does it run after the swap?
  20. , you can tell by the fact it has a wide seam line , unlike cast parts have a thin seam line from the moulding process, my truck has the wide seam mouling line on the lower control arm so its forged. yet in your picture of the upper control arm i see it has the thin casting line. not forged
  21. havent used the XM service since the truck was new, but GM is giving everyone free sat service for the holidays, wooohoo! Thanks GM! beats listening to NPR crap
  22. https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/245050-by-pass-trans-filter-upgrade-for-6810-speeds/ i noticed after cutting open the filter after 300 miles it was clean, but i did see some steel filing and some gritty sand like material. I'm currently doing a 5000 mile filter test , will post up what i find. I purchased the "bypass valve" from Frantz filters
