  1. Jbrockltd, welcome to the forum. Although not from Canada, my 2014 Silverado was. The frame was professionally undercoated. I feel that this expedited the rust on the frame as once water intrusion happened behind the undercoating, it was trapped between the frame and undercoating. I am no expert on this procedure but be wary of undercoating ANY truck frame in areas where road salt is used. Do your research and look into Fluid Film or similar (lanolin?) type of coatings that need to be applied yearly. Much success with these processes from what I have read. Fortunately I live in the South where frame rust is much less of an issue...12 months in, and my frame looks brand new still. My 2000 Silverado has no frame or rocker rust issues...and the brake lines look brand new.
  2. Available through any dealer if you don't want to go through the website. More expensive, though... https://accessories.chevrolet.com/product/garage-door-opener-package-(for-vehicles-equipped-with-auto-dimming-rearview-mirrors)-84350235?year=2020&make=Chevrolet&model=Silverado 1500&modelId=491&body=Crew Cab Pickup&bodyId=22&wheel=Standard Box&wheelId=652&trim=RST&trimId=4962&drive=4WD&driveId=8&engine=5.3L V8 GAS&engineId=2059&bodyNumDoors=5
  3. Listen to your girlfriend...60k power train. Just keep an eye (ear) on it.
  4. Piston slap on Gen III LS engines is an overblown issue. Many engines rebuilt for no reason at all. Our 2000 Silverado had it at 85k when I bought it and it still has it at 180k now that it is my son's truck. I hope for the OP's sake that this is just typical engine noise as described in the bulletin that someone provided. Hard to tell from a recording.
  5. I had a TonnoSport by Access on my 2014. Paid $340 for it on Autoanything. Really enjoyed that cover. It was a roll-up. I don't like the tri-folds. I have a LoRoll by TonnoPro for my 2019. Paid $270 for it on Autoanything. Although a better looking cover IMO, it doesn't fit as well as the TonnoSport did. Not as happy with this one. Not as water tight as the Access top was but not horrible. The latching mechanism is far inferior to the one on the Access cover.
  6. Chad, welcome to the forum. Sorry nobody has replied to you yet. Sadly, most of our self appointed "experts" are over in the "troubleshooting" forum, helping nobody. Nothing is impossible to add to the truck. But costly. These kinds of mods are things the dealership tends not to want to undertake. First off, I don't know if the clockspring in your steering column will have the wires for the volume control on the steering wheel. If it does, that's good. Without a wire diagram or an upfitters manual you would have to look at your wire harness vs. a truck that has the volume controls. IF the wires were present, you may also need to know if your radio supports that function. If it is the same radio that is in some higher trims with steering wheel volume controls...then you will be good there. That is easy to figure out from the RPO codes on your truck. At that point if your wire harness is compatible and the radio is...and you install the volume controls and it still doesn't work you may need some BCM programming to help you along. Give these guys a call: https://www.whiteautoandmedia.com/ They have way more knowledge than I, and can give you an idea of what you would need to do to accomplish your goal
  7. Welcome to forum! Remember that with the current trucks, there are two different transfer cases now for 4wd. With the 5.3 engine only the Z-71 or Trail Boss gets you the two speed with 2wd/Auto/4Hi/4Lo Without Z-71 you only get 2wd/Auto/4Hi and some kind of anti-slip 4wd mode (not sure on that last mode) All 6.2Liter trucks get a two speed transfer case I believe. So, you might not want anything out of the Z-71 package (since you will replace the shocks and possibly put a lift in) other than the 2 speed transfer case. Or you can dial up an RST with a 6.2L and skip the Z-71! Hope that helps and I wasn't too confusing.
  8. I'll see if I can find my invoice. If I do, I'll post it. Push them for a new radio.
  9. Have you had it in to the dealer yet?
  10. That's a 2019 and up bezel / infotainment system. RPO code will be on B pillar down low. Need a bar code app to read it.
  11. You need a new radio. That's the only fix I am aware of.
  12. Those numbers I gave are for trucks. GM's numbers aren't dropping. But they also aren't growing much. A little...but not much. As new truck owners are coming to market...don't know how many Chevy is picking up. I'd venture less than Ram. Ram is killing it right now in sales. Their price point and interiors is what's doing it, IMO I'd still take a new Chevy over a new Ram even though Ram's interior blows Chevy away.
  13. Hard to tell from the data...their numbers have been fairly consistent since 2014. Combined Chevy / GMC sales were 808k units in 2019. Dodge was 730k. (That's a massive increase and good for Dodge) What GM isn't doing is increasing it's customer base...and that's not good either. Not in the long run. Don't know how many they are losing vs. gaining. That's the real tell right there.
  14. This forum is rife with people that have 1 or 2 posts complaining about a problem...never to post again or update the vehicle's status. It's frustrating because I joined this forum to learn and discuss issues that our trucks have. These people contribute very little to the conversation. I always get this picture that they are sitting in the dealership service waiting area pissed out of their minds...and they have nothing else to do but surf and stumble across this forum...
  15. I just changed out a water pump on a Sierra van with 58k on the clock. To think that you will buy a Toyota and be completely insulated from failures is wrong. All vehicles break. If you feel these vehicles are more apt to do so...the choice is easy then.
  16. Undercarriage wash? Not all car washes have them or offer them as an option. Just a thought.
  17. I had a 2014 before this. Truck was excellent. Reliable...owned it 4 years. Was never in shop. I only sold it because I was "kicking tires" on new trucks...and the dealership offered me too much to say no. Coincidentally, that 2014 was built in Mexico. My 2000 silverado which I still own and my 17y/o drives was built in Canada. That truck has been nothing but reliable. It's why I didn't sell it.
  18. ? This... Same here. I'll wait till we know that the fixes work. I am not going to invite an issue...
  19. The 10spd transmission was co-developed by Ford and GM.
  20. Doubt you will get an answer. Guy made two posts and hasn't been back since Nov. of 2018. Sorry to hear about your truck. What transmission is in it and what happened?
  21. There are acceptable levels of oil loss. I don't know what those are. I doubt that a lot of the techs at the dealerships know either. There are going to be engines that burn more, and GM should be obligated to fix them. Hopefully they do.
  22. The following is from an owner's manual ■Engine oil consumption A certain amount of engine oil will be consumed while driving. In the following situations, oil consumption may increase, and engine oil may need to be refilled in between oil maintenance intervals.●When the engine is new, for example directly after purchasing the vehicle or after replacing the engine●If low quality oil or oil of an inappropriate viscosity is used●When driving at high engine speeds or with a heavy load, when towing, or when driving while accelerating or decelerating frequently●When leaving the engine idling for a long time, or when driving frequently through heavy traffic For a TUNDRA...2019. Check it out yourself. https://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM0C017U/pdf/OM0C017U.pdf section 7 We can debate all day on what is acceptable oil loss. I do think 1 qt every 2k is a lot. But, for all saying that these engines shouldn't be burning oil are just plain wrong. I tried to find a similar statement in my 2019's owner's manual...and this is the best I could find: It is also important to check the oil regularly over the course of an oil drain interval and keep it at the proper level. This tacitly implies oil usage...but doesn't come out and say so. Neither manual states what is acceptable loss.
  23. It's not unheard of. When the dealer had my truck for three weeks, I had a loaner...so I didn't even bother to ask. I think there are other's on this forum that have had either dealer / GM make their monthly payment.
