  1. No. I am not taking a stance either way. Just an article I read that had never been mentioned as a possible "disadvantage" to disabling AFM. So many AFM topics have come up over the years here. I figured since many run Catch Cans, the extra oil as described above would somehow be trapped. There are probably many that have disabled and are not running a catch can. Could this be the reason for some who have excess oil burn? Maybe someone more L83/L86 EcoTech engine oriented can chime in on the above article as to whether or not it is true. Definitely an interesting debate either way
  2. Interesting article I read about using a Range Device or other AFM disabling: An AFM Disabler is an electronic device that plugs into the OBD-II port, under the dashboard. It prevents the computer from switching over to four-cylinder mode. It’s a simple and effective way to turn off the AFM system and provides the added bonus of improving exhaust sound. NOTE: A disabler device should ONLY be used if the valvetrain is in good working order. Engines with AFM use a high-volume oil pump. When you eliminate the AFM system, the extra oil is no longer needed. Excess oil will be pushed out of the pressure relief valve into the oil pan. This will spray oil on the bottom of the cylinder walls which can cause oil burning, especially in high-rpm engines. So I assume a catch can in unison with a Disabler is key to preventing this excess oil buildup?
  3. 5100 and 4600 differences include: One is Yellow, one is Silver. One has a longer Rod, the other is Shorter. Other than that they are the same animal. Personally I would buy whichever color or look you prefer
  4. LED headlights? The Up-level Silverado Trims have completely different head and turn signal housings with built in LED systems. Your only option is to wait for an HID kit or throw some HID bulbs in your stock halogen sockets.
  5. Some have reported steering rack noises and failures relating to certain "Leveling" or after a Lift. Should be some thread topics on the site here and there.
  6. Get used to the idea of having your future Silverado or Sierra powered by an electric motor....
  7. The adjustable pedals in my K2 are not only a convenience, but an added safety feature of sorts. Both my wife and I are under 6' tall and about 4" difference in height. So, the 1 & 2 driver memory settings come in handy when we are able to custom tailor the pedal position to our liking. The option to move the pedals toward the driver increases the distance from torso to steering wheel, which in turn is a safer driving experience. GM axed this option for T1. Also, no turn signal indicators in the side mirrors which I have liked going back to GMT 800
  8. MartyF81, How is the new T1 compared to your old K2?
  9. Maybe another color inlay? a lighter gray or charcoal color would be more subtle and be the best of both worlds......
  10. I agree. They both look good. They both have some aggressive looking sidewall detail and do not look like a passenger type highway tread like the factory GoodYear SR-A's on K2
  11. The 20" wheels would look so much better with the DuraTracs or a more aggressive A/T tire.
  12. Hey Evel. Great Looking Silverado. Satin Steel is my favorite color on this T1 Gen. I think you made the right choice over the original white you had in mind
  13. I thought all AT4 and Trail Boss packages came with the Wrangler DuraTrac tires?
  14. Some T1s come with the Bridgestone. Some come with the Goodyear Trail Runner A/T
  15. ANYTHING with a GM label on it automatically fetches about 50% more.... LOL
  16. The trade-off is well worth it
  17. I wouldn't think .5 quart over will do any harm. These engines burn a bit off after a certain amount of mileage anyway.
  18. You have a valid question, but it really does not fit under the "Troubleshooting" thread. Try posting in the mods thread instead Good Luck!
  19. Here is what you need: https://www.shopchevyparts.com/performance/2019-silverado-1500-air-intake-performance-53l-engine/84561597-p-92300615.html
  20. The answer is No. 2019 T1 Gm trucks have a completely new air intake setup that comes thru the top of the grille and to the drivers side for intake. The intake picture you posted is for the previous gen K2.
  21. AMEN on the Snowflakes. Best looking Factory wheel out there if you ask me!
  22. Automotive prices continue to Rise, while Quality Declines. The simple fact of the matter is that vehicles are not truly tested enough before being released into production. Or, assembly lines are relying more on robots to perform repetitive tasks. Robots are not good at quality control however.
  23. Jay, I was making note and pointing out the fact that 5100s will work in the stock setting configuration. 2kwik4u may prefer the silver look vs the yellow. Yes there is a price difference. In his case it may be a matter of form over function.
  24. For those who prefer the silver body with black boot, go with the 5100s. 5100 has a slightly longer rod for leveled trucks. The 4600 is identical in internal valving but painted yellow with a blue boot. 5100 is more attractive if you ask me The 4600 reminds me of a cheap looking Monroe shock. There would be no harm in keeping the 5100 at the bottom snap ring groove/stock position.
