I sent the Diablo info to Hypertech and got a reply that a developer is supposedly looking into it. I suspect the only fix is going to be the inline module. If that is the case, hopefully Hypertech will sell one to me at a good price, as it is too late for me to return the tuner. I have only seen 1 other late model Suburban / Yukon XL around here that was lifted, and with ACC being a pricey option, it could just be nobody else has noticed it until now! Mine has the 8 speed, I read that people didn't like it much and that the 10 was much better, but it works just fine for me. I have not had any great desire to try out the other tuning options, but I may get around to it eventually. I certainly don't really need this 7,000 lb brick to be any faster, but I may try the mileage tune for fun. 20 years ago I would have put headers and an intake and a bigger cam and do everything possible to wring out a few more horsepower, but now I just want it to be super reliable and quiet. I also have a Porsche 911 Cabriolet for when I have a need for speed, and those extremely competent German engineers did not leave much room for improvement... LOL I took it deer hunting last year just after I put the lift and tires on it, and drove it up a very, very rugged mountain road one day. When I walked back to it, a couple of other hunters in a Jeep had stopped to admire it. They joked they thought it had been helicoptered in for a GMC commercial because it was so clean and shiny. Before the lift it looked like a glorified station wagon, but how the wife won't even drive it, so mission accomplished!

Jbg - thanks for the tuner info, I meant to ask which one you used. Seeing that we used different brands, it makes me think the issue may be on the GMC side. I will pass this info on to Hypertech, it will be helpful for them to know they are not the only ones with the problem. Have you tried contacting the Diablo people? Awesome looking 'burb BTW!

Update: I used a Hypertech 2000 programmer to update the tire size. I have a Harbor Freight ZR-Pro scanner that can do the tire size on my Jeep, but I could not that feature for the GMC. So I decided to try to contact Hypertech to see if they might be helpful. I sent an email and got a reply the next day that said I should call them. I called, and got Kevin in tech support. In Tennessee. No foreign accent. Been with the company for almost 10 years. Very knowledgable. He was able to use my programmer's serial number to tell me I had not updated it in about a year. (spot on.) So he suggested I update it then try setting the tire size again and see if the ACC worked. I did, but it didn't, so I called back. Got another great tech on the phone, he setup their update software to grab the data off my programmer, and it sent it to them. He is sending it to their programmers and they are supposed to get back to me when they have looked it over. He was pretty certain they can figure it out, as testing their tuning with the ACC is supposed to be part of their QA process. Hypertech also makes a module that goes inline with the connector that carries the speedo signal, and he was positive that will work with ACC if the tuner cannot be updated. So I am happy to know that I can have a correct speedo and the ACC! I will post again when I have new details.

Not the same issue exactly, but kind of related, so I will share my cruise control story here too. I put a 7" lift and 35" tires on my '17 Yukon XL, and my adaptive cruise control would only report that is was temporarily not available. I thought it was a sensor alignment issue, but I tried adjusting it and still could not get it to work. Another person had the same issue, and when they took out the custom wheel size programming, it started working again. I undid the custom programming, and mine is working again too, but of course my speedometer is not as accurate as it was. I need to use my GPS again to see how far off it is and decide if can live with it until I can see if there is another solution, perhaps an external speedometer correction that does not require reprogramming the BCM.

I was able to get the Adaptive Cruise Control working again by programming the tire size back to stock as JBG90199 did. Apparently there is something in the programming for the ACC that does not play well with the tire size change. That means the lift was not the issue at all, it was just coincidence that I reprogrammed the tire size at the same time. Now that I think about it, the ACC works on hills and curves, so it obviously has a wide range of 'vision' both vertically and horizontally. Now to play with the tire size programming with my new scanner to see if there is any way to keep the ACC and the corrected speed.

Wow, pretty harsh, considering you have no idea what you are talking about, at least in my state, where a 7" lift is perfectly legal. My truck still runs and drives just like stock, thanks to a very high quality lift kit that retains the stock magnetic shocks in the front and air shocks in the back. By using the correct offset wheels, the 35" tires I chose to use have no rubbing issues at all, and the turning radius has not changed either.

Anyone running 17" wheels?
AzCoronaDog replied to AzCoronaDog's topic in Modifications & Accessories
The 17" rims with 315/70/17 tires work just fine. I went with a McGaughy's 7" black stainless steel lift kit. Had to move the retractable steps back an inch or so, no rubbing issues in normal driving. I have only had it on moderately rough roads, and no rubbing so far. I expect a couple of very minor contact points in heavy articulation, but it's no desert racer so no worries! LOL -
No updates, I have not had a chance to get it to a stealership yet. The truck did work great out deer hunting, it seemed very tall in my driveway, but is just right out in the rough stuff. I did get accused of being some crazy city slicker for taking such a nice looking truck up some pretty ugly roads though! LOL

May never work again? Pretty negative! LOL I am quite certain they can be adjusted, and if necessary, custom brackets fabricated. The lane departure and vehicle detection systems, which rely on the camera behind the rear view mirror on the windshield, seem to be working just fine. I suspect the radar portion of the ACC is more sensitive, but there is absolutely no reason this can't be corrected. I was just hoping I would be able to do it myself, but I will get it working one way or another.

Why wouldn't a dealer work on it? Even though my truck is out of warranty, adding a lift kit does not invalidate your warranty, so I don't see why a dealer would not be happy to take my money to adjust this.

Any luck with this? I just finished a 7" lift on my '17 Yukon XL and I am getting the same thing. The module behind the front bumper has an adjuster screw, and I tried angling it down one turn at a time, but after 5 full turns it still does not work. If I have to take it to a stealership I will, but I was hoping to find a DIY answer first!

Changed battery on 2015 Yukon Denali. Read this.
AzCoronaDog replied to Txloanstar's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
Thanks TX! Details like this are why I read these forums. Here in AZ, we are lucky to get more than 2 years out of a battery, and I just bought a 2017 that still has the factory one, so this tip may save me aggravation down the road, if I remember I read it... LOL- 2 replies

Adaptive Cruise Control
AzCoronaDog replied to Rhinomike's topic in 2015-2020 Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon & Escalade
I have ACC on both my Yukon XL and my Jeep Grand Cherokee, and I really like it on both. For those so adamantly against it because it brakes too soon when you are looking to pass, you can override that by simply pressing the accelerator yourself. It will not resume it's normal operation until you let off, so it can work much like regular cruise control with a tiny bit of driver input. -
1st and 2nd row jump seat between captains chairs
AzCoronaDog replied to dust10314's topic in Modifications & Accessories
Nice! I am liking this upgrade. I am moving from my old 1990 Suburban to a 2016 or so Yukon XL Denali soon, and I was thinking I would miss the 2nd row bench sometimes. This is a great way to have it all. Looking forward to any updates on the install. I thank you in advance for saving me the trouble of debugging the details. -
My first post here, I tried search but found no results, so here is my question: Is anyone running 17" wheels on a lifted 2015+ GM SUV? Wondering about any brake clearance issues, etc. I see that the spare is on a 17" rim, so with the stock steering knuckle and brakes they obviously work. But what about with the replacement knuckle of a 6" lift? I currently have a 1990 V2500 Suburban 4x4 that I have owned for the last 22 years, and I am finally ready to go newer. I am looking at getting a 2016+ Yukon XL Denali. I plan to add a 6" lift and 35" tires. My experience with tire and wheels is that in general, the more sidewall, the better the ride and the more flexibility in airing down for four wheeling. Plus I'm an old guy and not a huge fan of the look of giant wheels with what amounts to a big rubber band of a tire on a 4x4. And after reading all the complaints about noise / buffeting / thumping / vibrations on this newer K2xx platform, I want to minimize that too. So I am thinking of 17" rims with 35/12.50/17 or 315/70/17 tires, and would like to confirm somebody has run one of these combinations on a 6" lift. Thanks in advance!
