  1. I don’t think the 2020 versions allow for WiFi CarPlay so consider yourself lucky! I bet the issue is your phone is connected to Verizon when you hop into the truck. Does it find and connect to the WiFi OK? I’d fully expect if the phone is on the internal WiFi it should connect. The only gotcha is if you plugged in the phone to charge. I believe CarPlay will always default to a cable connection. See if there are any CarPlay options to select order of connectivity.
  2. While some builders may have skimped nearly every home I’ve been in in the last 30 years down here have insulated walls and ceilings. Yes they do stupid things like run water pipes in outer walls and in attics. I’ve got a water heater in my attic (yeah dumbest idea I’ve ever seen) that was part of the original plan. All the pipes are insulated and I had no problems, but my heat didn’t go out! BTW nice and warm this week.
  3. No leaks here in my 2020 but I’m looking closely at the spoiler mounting holes and the inadequately sealed mounting holes. I’m surprised GM allowed holes at all. The biggest eye opener has been GMs reluctance to properly address this design flaw.
  4. Agree this is a great upgrade that’s easy to install. Or if your up to some soldering you can wire it in without the Putco harness.
  5. Anyone find an aftermarket cup holder to supplant the fold down center seat option? The cup holder barely fits a kid drink yet alone a decent sized cup of coffee. Wish I had the center console as this center seat is nearly worthless. If anyone runs across anything that goes between that seat and the dash let me know. I’d be very interested. I could always install the full console but trying to avoid that if I can. Love the truck but inadequate space for larger drinks for sure.
  6. 500 is the lowest. Your doing about 750.
  7. Here is my dirty 2020 Silverado! And the front portion of the rear
  8. I doubt it can maintain even running at such a low RPM. May be your tach. I’d get it checked out.
  9. 2000 with the 5.3L. And 239K miles. Ticks on cold start due to a lifter but it goes away within 30 seconds. When or if it blows I’ll put a 5.3 back in and run it till the wheels fall off.
  10. If your vehicle has been garaged and not subject to lots of warm/cold swings the oil can go longer than a year. Their just trying to keep condensation from diluting the oil.
  11. Yeah with homeless and that ass hat Art Acevedo as your police chief, I feel for you.
  12. Yeah some of the dealers were discounting to 3.0L to move them off the lot. It was a wash between motors but rolled the dice on the 3L. So far great combo. About 25MPG combined with a best 25 mile trip of 37.1 MPG.
  13. They have used aluminum on these trucks for years. Has not been a big problem. I have a new to me 2000 model Z71 and just recently removed the plate to grease the old zerk enabled steering and it was in great shape. No issues.
  14. I know early brake controller were plagued with cold solder joints inside the control module. I don't think the 2006 was affected but thought I would throw that out there.
  15. Thanks. I’ll check them myself.
  16. Just get the 3.0L and you will have much better mileage and tow easily. Comes with the 10 speed to boot. When you say the 2.7 gets good mileage... what numbers are we talking?
  17. Haven’t used it yet but willing to give it a try! I have a WiFi obd2 interface just sitting her. I’ll plug it in and see what it reports for me.
  18. Yeah I’d like to avoid a trip to the dealer if it’s a quick visual check.
  19. How big a boy are you? My fat a** doesn’t move my seat but I got the leather upgrade. Wondering if the weight in the seat has any role in this.
  20. Saw a recent recall pop up on my truck. Seems like the safety belts in the center front seat may not be secured properly. I’ve never used it but will get it inspected. Anyone else get this notice? Was only visible from display if I looked for recalls.
  21. If the actuator is working but the cover is limiting the fall of the tailgate then I’d take it back to the crew who installed it. If you want to avoid that hassle there should be a rail clamp at the rear. Loosen and slightly raise the rail 1/16 to 1/8th. Tighten the clamp and retry. Do both sides as unlikely one side alone is the culprit.
  22. Curious why your not including the 3.0L turbo diesel in your question. Look into it as well as it has gobs of torque and can come with two different rear gear ratios along with the 10 speed. Towing and non towing mileage is hard to beat.
  23. 1982 Buick. Broke down on my way to my wedding in the middle of Oklahoma. I borrowed an in-laws truck while local mechanic (loosely named as he was no mechanic) worked on it. Several days later go to pick it up and was handed box of spare parts! I kid you not. Test drove it 10 miles down highway and it broke down again. Towed to my in-laws where I rebuilt the motor myself. We eventually did get a honeymoon but was six months later. Sold that POS as soon as I could. Got an S10 that was solid reliable for years. Sold me on the brand.
  24. No idea but I like your logic on two being better. Half the load so should last longer.
  25. Do a search. Believe your smelling the DEF being burned. Common concern. Just to be sure take a look at your overflow tank for the cooling system. If it’s not dropping then rest assured it’s a odd smell but normal. I’m still learning all the smells and noises this truck makes!
