This is such a simple concept, yet you have difficulty understanding it. Must be a product of California education. Let's get some facts straight. 1) I live in California, but I'm not a California resident. 2) I lived in Virginia, but was never a Virginia resident. Regardless of where I lived, my vehicles were not registered in those states, but were insured in those states. My point was merely a means for the OP to 1) save money, and 2) obtain a vehicle of his choosing. You clearly have trouble with understanding this. Instead, you want to go off topic and act like a baby that didn't get his bottle. My solution answered the question directly, gets the OP what he looking for, and saves him money. You're clearly out of your element here and need to sit down. You're not the "Mr KnowItAll" you think you are. For example, if the 3.5 Ecoboost engines aren't California compliant, then why are they on the California dealership lots. 2.7, 2.7 turbo, 3.5, 3.5 turbo, and 3.5 twin turbo. One of my neighbors has a 2.7 turbo f150, while another has the 3.5 turbo f150. I also see a lot of 2nd gen Raptors on the road out here. There's the 3.5 twin turbo. Yay! We all know by now that we have 4 switches, with a 5th pre-wired for a light at the roof. So, the question is being asked, what are you connecting, or tend to connect to those switches? I figured we could do this for fun and to generate ideas for ourselves and others. I'm currently working to connect the Baja Designs lights sold through GM Accessories. I'm considering an ARB air compressor that mounts to the truck bed wall, possibly a train air horn (not seriously), and v some sort of electrical connection for power tool battery chargers. To be honest, I haven't started acting like an a$$hole, yet. Being one is much easier for me. It comes naturally. I'll raise it up a bit in the following message so you can see I wasn't an a$$hole in my previous post. We're getting to about 25%-30% now. With that said, you did quote my post, and you applied to something that wasn't being discussed. Nobody asked about insurance. I never said I registered my cars in California even though I live there. Notice that's present tense, not past tense. And, what I started could be used by California residents too. Own land in another, register the vehicle there. Drive it in California (and insure it where it's garage, so that you feel better). And, not every state has emissions requirements. Since I mentioned Utah earlier I'll use them as an example. Emissions is done in a handful of counties. Register in a county and you won't have emissions requirements. The stickers Utah has for a vehicle do not vary based on whether or not you have to comply with emissions. Also, all of Utah's stickers are on the rear plate. I disagree. I think they went too big and replaced features that should have buttons with icons on a screen. One thing I like about the GM is the built in redundancy. Should the screen stop working I still have buttons to push for the radio, heated seats, climate control, etc. GM went smarter, not fancier. I like that. We aren't talking insurance. We are talking registration. Everything you said I agree with, but it's getting off the topic. I live in/recently moved to California, but my truck isn't registered in California. I've been doing this since 2008, so I think I know what I'm talking about. I move every 2-3 years. I've bought 5 vehicles during that time, all in different states, and all have been registered in my home state. Sorry if I come off like an a$$hole about this, but it really is in my wheelhouse. I do know the intricacies and details of how this works. O just spent 3 months trying to get a bull-headed dealership to realize I was right, and I came out on top. Last dealership to only 2 days. Have you guys crawled under your truck and noticed the huge irk space in front of the gas tank? Maybe a transfer tank can be mounted there? How To pump the fuel from one tank to another would be the question. I think some of the largest toy haulers may have this feature, so it might be worth looking into??? I added some bush stripes on both sides today. Decided to check out the Otay Truck Trail. About midway, wedged between a rock and a drop into a dry creek bed, I came to point were bushes were overgrowing on both sides of the trail. Thought I could make it without scratching the truck, but I was wrong. Got to the end of the trail and found the exit closed, so I had to turn around and do it again. At least the bush stripes are on both sides. Went to the carwash before heading home and inspected damage. The stripes don't appear to go beyond the clear coat. I already ordered a 3M repair kit. Thinking outside of the box, you could always obtain duel state citizenship. But some land in a nearby state and register, title, and get license plates for your truck in that state. This would save you a chunk of change in taxes to justify and offset the land acquisition. I'm eyeballing an area where an acre is $1,000 right now. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

When I first got my truck i was able to run 93. Now that I've moved to California I'm stuck with 91, and it is already at $4/gallon. I could fill up at the gas station on base, but I don't know if it's Top Tier fuel. I go to Arco because they only have a $0.35 service charge for using cards at the pump instead of $0.10 more per gallon, and Arco is cheaper by about $0.40-$0.50/gallon. Another name for Arco is AM PM. If love to use Chevron and Shell, but the same quality gas for ~$10 more per full up just isn't worth it. I'm even questioning if Top Tier fuel is worth it for our trucks since we have direct injection instead of the previous setup where fuel was sprayed and then had to pass the valve to be detonated. First, I want to say thank you to @20gmctruckguy for helping with the issue where my truck wouldn't start. Second, my lightbar still doesn't work. Baja Designs has been trying to be helpful, but I just discovered they don't know which of their products they sold GM for the T1 trucks. They told me it was the ONX6 lightbar. I just discovered it is actually their S8 lightbar. I compared the lightbar on my truck to the pictures on GM Accessories. Those checked out. I then compared them to the products on Baja Designs website. It may seem like a non-issue, but it makes all the difference in the world due to 1 wire. ONX6 is a 3-wire cable. S8 is a 2-wire cable. Over a week of trouble because of this. To their credit, Baja Designs did send me new harnesses at no charge. They are trying to fix the problems, and have been very accommodating. I've run into some roadblocks, but Baja Designs has been very helpful with getting the lightbar to work. Hoping to have this completely finished by next weekend. I use to live in Hampton Roads, VA and traveled down to Corolla many times. Always took my wife's Traverse since it has AWD. We always aired down to 20 psi and never had a problem out there. The sand was always softer on hot sunny days because of its silicon content. On cooler and wet days traction was never an issue. The main thoroughfare is up by the dunes. Try to keep your tires in the ruts. Police are in 4wd trucks, and you'll definitely see them. Be sure to buy your pass for parking on the sand before going out there. My last 4 car purchases were done out of state. If you do some research you can find the paperwork your state will need. Take it to the out of state dealership. They'll handle it. They should be able to roll your state's tax, title, licensing fees, etc into your loan if you finance your purchase. There are situations, like active duty military, where your home state will waive taxes and/or fees. That'll be a fight/headache with the dealership.
