  1. Looking at the pic, you'd have to squeeze the black tab on the back of that cable while pulling it out to release it. The pic doesn't show much of that black tab. They're could be a red or white plastic tab inside of it at the very end. If there is you'll need to pull that down first to disengage the lock so you can do the first thing I said. I've found fingernails aren't enough to pry a locking tab down. You'll need a pick or some other tool to help out. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  2. I use my truck to take the family to the beach at La Jolla Shores today. Cooked hotdogs and bratwurst via firepit on the beach. Stayed until dark. Once the wood turned to ash and the fire was out, so were we. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

  4. It's an option, not standard. LTZ is the lowest trim level you get factory navigation on. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  5. I'm biased, but it's your decision to make, not mine. Go with whatever makes you happy. The 10-speed is a great choice. I love it. Because you are getting the 10-speed i suspect the 5.3 will have DFM instead of AFM. I think that is a better selection. Good luck with your truck buying endeavor, and congratulations. 8. I agree with TNT, but for the reasons JJ wants. The LTZ is more comfy. You'll pay more for it, too. LTZ has heated and cooled seats. RST will only have heated seats. LTZ has factory navigation and Android Auto/Apple Carplay. RST will only have Android Auto/Apple Carplay. There are a few other creature comforts the LTZ has. It all depends on what you want and how much you're willing to spend. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

  10. After what I just witnessed with my neighbor, the 6-speed need to be gone. He bought a 2021 Custom TB. 1100 miles and the trans is toast. He hasn't even made his first payment. Towed his toy hauler once. That was it. He said his toy hauler weighs 5900 lbs unloaded. It is very short. He's only putting small electric motorcycles and 1 or 2 small gas powered bikes in the trailer, along with the typical fluids, foods, etc. His oldest kid is about 12. The people in the family are small and light. I don't see him overloading the truck in payload, tongue, towing, etc. He replaced a 2004 Suburban 2500 with the new Silverado. I feel bad for the guy. I was burned by GM on the 5.3 with AFM back in 2012. It was in a 2007 Tahoe. 6 months out of warranty, but not out of warranty on mileage. Driving home to Chicago after attending a funeral in Salt Lake City. Got off the freeway in Laramie, WY to fill the gas tank and my families stomachs. Get back on the freeway, at cruise control, start climbing a canyon and the bottom of the engine fails. Needed a new engine. It was going to take at least a week, but my wife was active duty Navy and her command wouldn't grant an extension even though she had the leave time available. GM wasn't going to cover the engine, nor any part of it, and certainly wasn't going to help in any way. We were a young family with a 2 year old kid. I ended up downgrading to a Malibu just to get home. Had to pick and choose which items in the Tahoe went into the dealership's dumpster and what continued on the trip with us. Didn't have the time to ship anything because we had to get back on the road immediately, and everything was closed by the time we finished the paperwork on the Malibu. We lost some valuable family heirlooms because of this. It soured me on GM for several years. I avoided anything with cylinder deactivation until DFM came about. I'm only giving it a chance because of the changes in the technology/mechanicals. With all that said, the 6-speeds days were numbered when GM decided to put the 8-speed in the Colorado/Canyon. My guess/shot in the dark is that the Custom Trail Boss will still have the 5.3 as an option. It'll just be the 5.3 with DFM and an 8-speed. Therefore, there won't be much differentiating the Custom Trail Boss from the Trail Boss LT. I think the Trail Boss LT will then follow in the GMC AT4's footsteps and have the 3.0 Duramax as an iron in 2022+. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  11. I went with the Thinkware F800 via GM Accessories, and had the dealer install it before I took possession of my truck. It's a clean setup that suit on front of my rearview mirror. It's a non-splice install that doesn't connect to the OBD2 or power port. Power wire is run through the headliner and down the driver's a-pillar into the dash. GM offers this same system for my wife's 2017 Traverse, and I've encouraged her to get it. I have no complaints. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  12. Some states have higher speed limits than others, and trying to make a pass in those states will require higher speed. Also, going offroad, such as the Bonneville Salt Flats, and playing around is another good reason. Both of those scenarios I've experienced. I hit the speed limiter on my Silverado when passing a semi on a 2 lane road. It surprised me. Fortunately, there was no oncoming traffic that I was trying to beat when I made my pass. 15. That's looking real good. Can't wait for mine to arrive. Hopefully next week. I'm also contemplating doing what you did with the air scoops in the lower gills, but in amber. If I add the leds in going to tie them into the rock lights I'm also considering installing. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  16. One thing I miss about the Marine Corps is how hardened everybody is. You can't insult Marines, unless you're a Marine and know what button to push. Call a Marine a crayon eater and they'll tell you which color is their favorite flavor. I wish the rest of the world was just as hardened. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  17. I'm not sure what the problems are. A business would only need to incorporate, and then create what's called a foreign entity in each state. Only issue I see would be if Tesla is setup as a S-Corp and not a C-Corp (big difference is number of shareholders, iirc the supply is at 100). Not all states recognize S-Corp status, but that wouldn't prevent any Corp to own a LLC or another C-Corp. It's a simple workaround. It's just a question of whether the company wants to try. Sounds like Tesla didn't want to try. And, doing the S-Corp thing could aid in utilizing what's referred to as QSUB, or pass through. It's a means to simplify tax files for all businesses a business owns, including for the parent business itself. This is a rabbithole we could explore, but it gets us off topic. : We shall now return you to your regularly scheduled program: Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  18. So, I did a thing yesterday. I called my dealer and ordered the Baja Designs a-pillar lights available through GM Accessories. I was told they're SPO, in Michigan, and should arrive in 7-10 days. I'm wiring directly to GM Upfitter switch #2. I'm not bothering with the GM Accessories wire harness. I have an idea what harnesses I'll need to order from Baja Designs to pull this off, but want to receive the lights before I order the harnesses in order to make sure I don't buy something I don't need. Next up, I'm looking for a good lightbar for the bumper with a similar setup to what Rough Country offers, but better quality. I wonder if Baja Designs 10" lightbars will fit in the Rough Country brackets? This is planned for upfitter switch #3. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  19. It sounds like you should go get an AT4 so you can have the best of both Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  20. Yep, AT4 gets the ventilated seats, factory navigation, memory seats, power folding mirrors, wireless phone charging, etc. Those are all things a fully loaded Trail Boss LT don't get, and the reason why an AT4 costs 10% more. It's like statistics; it depends on how you look at the data. And, I don't believe those differences are worth $6k more. I've already spent $650 adding factory navigation, and received a quote to upgrade to wireless phone charging. That's only $250. That would mean GM is saying power folding mirrors, memory seats, and ventilated seats are worth an additional $5,100. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  21. GMC has about a 10% markup. Compare equally equipped trucks and you'll pay more for the GMC. When I was comparing the Trail Boss LT to AT4 the difference was about $6,000, but not $6,000 in equipment. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

  24. Funny I saw this thread right before I headed to Buffalo Wild Wings to pick up dinner. The mall parking garage where Bdubs is located has a max height of 7'0". As I approached the garage and saw the clearance sign looking like it was going to hit my windshield I "noped" right out of there. Found a different area of the parking lot to park and get my food order. Funny thing is, GM says the overall height of the Trail Boss is 78.3". That's 6'6". I don't believe it one bit since with the lightbar I can't get into carwashes with a max height of 7'2". Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  25. There are a couple threads on this forum about the Upfitter switches, including a really good install write up. I'm not going into detail about them in this thread so we can stay on topic. They will allow you to simplify wiring up accessory lights and other things by not having to run wires to the battery because the switches are already connected to the battery. As for the Baja Designs lights, GM says there's another required wiring harness you need to purchase in order to get the lights to function. That's applicable to both the lightbar for the top of the sport bar, and the a-pillar lights. This additional wire harness is where you'll find a relay, eyelet connectors for the battery, the key fob remote, and the receiver for the signal from the key fob remote. This wire harness is not needed for the a-pillar lights when using the upfitter switches, and only part of it is needed if you get the lightbar but you can get that part from Baja Designs directly, thereby avoiding wasted money and having unused parts. I've attached a pic of the upfitter switches that I installed in my truck. To avoid derailing this thread, feel free to send me a PM if you want more info. Switch 1 is my lightbar. Switch 2 will be my a-pillar lights once they finally arrive. I've been told they're special order out of Michigan and will take about 7-10 days to arrive. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
