I have a simple fix for the bulk of GM's problems. They need to stop telling suppliers to "sharpen your pencils". I knew a guy who was a GM supplier. He gave them the best price for the best parts that he could provide. He got fed up with GM coming back to him every time he submitted a competitive bid, being told "sharpen your pencil". Last I heard he became a beta tester with HPTuners, started doing work for other companies, and started working with some NASCAR teams for electronic tuning when the cars jumped over to EFI. To him, "sharpen your pencils" was another way of saying, "use inferior products". Look at what it has done to GM over the decades. GM isn't alone with this problem. The parts guys I used to look into this was Hall Chevrolet in Chesapeake, Virginia on Western Branch Blvd. They are sitting on 3 kits to do the upgrade, but called GM in prep to get my truck upgraded and was told by GM that they no longer do the upgrade and abandoned the program. "Abandoned" was the exact word they used when they said they can't do it. That's when I came upon the thread in this forum about MVi and went that route. If anybody has heard differently, it would be nice to hear about it. If GM still has that info on their website then the issue finely should be looked into further to determine what's accurate. From what I've read, that depends. Apparently amber roof marker lights are illegal in California, too. Something about being too far away from the headlights, gate than 40 inches. This is why you can't order a 2500 or 3500 with the roof markers from the factory. That's also why offroad lights also have to be covered while driving on paved roads. My truck has the dynamic fuel management, so it doesn't just switch from v4 to v8. It has 17 different modes that go from 2 cylinders to all 8. If we're both experiencing the same problem, then it's not AFM or DFM causing the issue. Furthermore, this seems to occur more frequently when idling. 3 T-15 in the top of the foot step, 2 T-15 in the bottom under the step pad, and 1 7 or 8mm holding the step pad from inside the bumper. The other 3 I suspect your pointing out are the 3 10mm bolts holding the exhaust cutouts on. To release the clips I inserted a flathead screwdriver through the bumper from under the truck. There were small slits to fit the screwdriver through. If go under the tab and then push up. I was on the outside of the truck, pulling the top of the step away slightly so I could view what was going on inside the bumper. I started from the tab closest to the middle of the truck. Once it was out I went to the middle tab, then the tab closest to the side of the truck. It really didn't take much to get this done, and I didn't break a single tab. I'm not a mechanic, only a hobbiest. I went into this blind, not having seen a diagram or schematic to point things out to me. I found it very easy to do. Trying to figure things out, the first side took me about 2 hours. That includes thumbing through my tool box several times looking for tricks or special tools I have to somehow make the job easier. The 2nd side took me less than an hour since I already knew how to do it. I only have hand tools, not the electric ratchet that was mentioned earlier. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

When the dealership looked at my belt they told me they found a TSB to address this issue. The fix was to apply some sort of powder. It didn't fix the problem. I've had my brother take a look. He's a diesel mechanic, and works on everything from Colorados to Freightliners. He believes it's the idler pulley. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

Different strokes for different folks. If that works for you, go with it. I had issues with Android Auto, so I decided the upgrade was worth it. I've been very pleased with it so far. It's also much better than the navigation system used in GM cars over a decade ago. Individual results will vary based on preferences. To get the full affect of the GM navigation system you need pay for the traffic package with Sirius XM. It gives you all the same info Google Maps and Waze do. The first part of your post is correct. The second part is false. I looked into this back in August. GM abandoned the upgrade program. It is no longer available. The only way to upgrade to factory navigation now is via aftermarket. I did this with MVi. It ran about $650 after I got my core charge refunded. I went with option #2. I have to agree with both sides of this. A truck is more loyal and faithful than any woman will ever be, but at the end of the day it's still a truck. We don't discard our family members whenever they go to the hospital to be repaired. Why would you sell a truck that took a tough tumble, but will be okay? Is no different than a broken bone. In a few weeks it'll be fixed if it's treated right by the right people. If you were ever involved in the incident where your wife/girlfriend was injured, she'd have trouble trusting you again. Your truck will still want you to drive it, care for it, and spoil it. The 2 best things in a man's life are his dog and his truck. Women, arguably, come a distant 4th. All but one weren't my fault, and in all but the one case I was completely stopped (the one at fault case involves hitting a giant porcupine). In one of those cases I was actually asleep in bed while both mine and my wife's cars were hit. A good body shop will take care of your truck just fine. I use to live in Feasterville-Trevose, PA. Faulkner GMC was a really good dealership to deal with, imo. They are on Street Road. Just take the PA Turnpike to the Street Road exit and head west for a little bit. In my experience they're very fair to deal with. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

I had the dealership install this on my truck back in July before I took delivery. I love it, and love the sentry mode the most. Only annoyance is the beeping it makes every time you go over a rough bump. It's not enough of an annoyance for me to do about it though. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
