How's the gasket at the air box side of the air intake tube that comes from behind the grill? I installed the GM Performance intake on my truck and found that to be very loose for a factory install. Lots of wiggle room on that end of the tube. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

Received a message earlier today that my lead on one of these kits was a bust. Again, nationwide backorder. Called the dealer as recommended a few posts up. There is no new part number. I also provided the parts numbers for all items in the kit is provided by GM Upfitter. Every part number except for 1 is a special order out of 1 of 3 GM warehouses. Since they're special order I don't have much faith in being able to get everything. The one part that wasn't special order happens to be in my dealer's inventory. Don't get too excited. I am compelled to disagree with the logic here only. The current American Flag design started out as a school project. The teacher graded the design with a C and told the student it'll never be that design. This motivated the kid to petition Congress to adopt his design. They did. He then went back to the teacher that gave him a C, and that teacher improved the grade to an A. Just goes to show educators can be the problem. I have a love/hate relationship with my kids learning at home online. I love that I get to set the record straight in terms of history, civics, social science, etc. I hate that I don't get any freedom and have some of my own personal time. I had a 2006 Cobalt SS Supercharged with an aftermarket intake that had a water sock on the air filter. I went through a flooded road in a major rain storm once and ended up flooding the engine. Water was literally splashing the bottom of the body. I could hear that sound. Filter was in the fender behind the drivers headlight. When I drove through the flooded road I was as close to the middle (highest point of road) as possible. Water would've never touched the filter and intake tube, yet somehow I managed to suck in some water. That is a feat considering the intake manifold after the supercharger was U-shaped with the lowest point being a little above the top of the oil pan, and the water has to get past 4 water to air to water intercooler laminovas. I also know the shape of our air boxes in the Silverado. If it happened to me, I could see it somehow happening to somebody in a T1xx. They can, but choose not to. To get pricing low enough to compete they'd need to cheapen the quality of their products. While Ford has been advertising they're the #1 selling truck, GM has been saying they're the longest lasting truck. Both statements are true. I may have a lead on the GM Upfitter auxiliary switch kit for my truck, so I contacted Baja Designs and found out they make a wire harness for their light bar available through GM Accessories so you can ditch the remote key fob completely. I ordered the wire harness Friday and it arrived Saturday via FedEx (benefit of living a few miles away from their factory). Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

I know it's been a few months, but I thought I'd bring this thread back. My saga with the GM Accessories light bar from Baja Designs is still ongoing. If you've been following the thread about auxiliary switches from GM Upfitters then you know I've had a little difficulty getting everything, but I hope that endeavor will be over soon. The purpose for the auxiliary switches has always been so I could have a wired button on the dash for the offroad lights instead of a key fob. This is the way it was on the last generation of trucks, so I'm disappointed to see that didn't carry over to the T1xx's. I'm pleased to announce that may no longer be the case I decided to contact Baja Designs about working with them to make a wire harness for the offroad light so I could use the GM Upfitter switch. Their rely was very short and sweet. They already make a wire harness for this application. I spent many years in the rental car industry in a large city. I was at the airport, which is often the headquarters for the rental car company regions. They do the majority of buying, etc through the airport office, and when needed sent cars to in town locations. I worked my way into management and when became a shift manager. That involved a whole lot of things that included managing the fleet and dealing with problems in a daily basis, including fleet utilization across the region. One thing I noticed was that Ford fleet pricing was always cheaper, so we always had more Fords. However, when it came to personal ownership, most employees who weren't allowed to take a car home nightly, arrived to work in GMs or imports like Nissan. We were able to utilize our company's fleet purchasing program to buy personal vehicles at the dealership. The fleet price was often lower than what the dealership was buying the car at. I had one dealer tell me when I bought my first new car ever, a GM, that GM will reimburse them the difference of my buying price and their purchase price. Since we had a majority of Fords in the fleet I got to see how crappy those vehicles are made. Imagine having 500 Ford Focus with fuel pumps that fail in the first 1500 miles. F150s weren't as common in the fleet as Focus, Fusion, and Taurus, but they'd still experience a lot of problems. Explorer (before the current unibody platform) and Expedition would usually have the same problems. Were GMs perfect? No, but they were a lot better. Far fewer problems. A key getting stuck in the ignition of the Cobalt was the biggest problem I can recall, but again we didn't have as many GMs. We did have GM SUVs, but no trucks. Still had a lot fewer problems, though. One part of the fleet that was exclusively GM was Suburban and 12 passenger vans. Those things never seemed to have problems. Biggest thing I hate about the GM leasing agreements for Suburban and full size vans the mileage caps, which is why when you rent one you'll likely have a mileage restriction of 100/day on your rental agreement. This was the closest to a Silverado we get in the fleet. Again, never really experienced a problem with them, but we never got the mileage out of them that we get out cars.
