  1. I've been searching the forum and I've found a few pictures of 1500's with these steps but wondering if anyone has them on their 2500 and could share some pictures? I like that they fit tight to the rockers but I wonder if it's a high step given how tall these trucks are. My wife is 5'2" but I don't like steps that hang down and get snagged or bent.
  2. @BrentH I'm just wondering if you ever got this figured out. I have the 220A alternator, just trying to understand what you found you needed for parts. Thanks.
  3. I'm wondering if anyone has had their dealer do an install much like the factory install? I just put a deposit on an in transit SLE with the Snow Plow Prep so I will have the 220A alternator. I would just need the battery, the new junction/fuse box and the additional leads. I know as a factory install its like a $135 install but looking at the parts list it looks significantly more as an after the fact installation. I just wasn't sure if there was a retrofit kit for the dealer to order of if you need to identify and order the individual parts needed.
  4. I can't speak to any of these rumors but I can speak to maybe a few others. I had ordered a 6.6L gas on 2/16 and up until last week had been at 1100 as well. My dealer called me when they got their weekly allocations and said that my truck hadn't been picked up because of the chip shortage and a constraint on the safety package. He said I could remove the package and place my order. I asked about going up to a low optioned HC, wondering if they were starting with constraints on the lower trims. He said the constraints were all trims. So I decided not to order that one, since I would still be anywhere from 8-14 weeks out. I started calling all around and here are the rumors I heard. I did hear from one dealer that the 6.6L gas was hard to get allocation for and that I would have more luck ordering a diesel. I had another dealer tell me that there's few diesel allocations coming around due to the def. tank heater issue and parts constraints. One dealer told me that GM is ending all programs (supplier, educator, first responder, health care provider) for HD trucks. I had another dealer tell me this was going to be the last month of rebates. I had one dealer tell me that the safety package constraint was going to be until the 2022 MY. So at the end of the day, I don't know that anyone really knows. But after calling around for the last week or so, if it were me, unless your build was extremely custom, I would try to find something already built, in transit or whatever because the way things are trending since I ordered in February, I think things are getting worse and not better.
  5. Congrats! I wonder why the 4 week delay in Flint? I just put a deposit on an SLE that has been built and as of 4/2 was still in Flint, no anticipated delivery date yet. After a week of calling and messaging and scouring the inventory pages for anything within 500 miles of Maine, I opted for an SLE which the dealer will add aftermarket leather to. I did find a few options out of state but having a 7 year old trade in, figuring in travel or shipping, dealers not accepting supplier pricing, etc I opted to keep my options to something within a 4-5 hour drive. I had narrowed it to a Denali about an hour away and this SLE but I just couldn't pull the trigger on the Denali. Truck should be here this month barring any delays such as yours.
  6. Well after 7 weeks of waiting my dealer notified me yesterday that my LTZ wasn’t getting picked up due to some new constraint. My option was to strip down my ordered truck and wait another 8-10 weeks or cancel the order and try to find something already built. I decided to move on and expand my range and budget. Thanks for everyone’s help throughout this process and best of luck to everyone on their orders.
  7. Yeah, exactly my thought. I'm looking around and calling on anything within driving distance of me but I told them, if it doesn't get picked up this week I'm likely moving on.
  8. Thanks nards, the whole thought of a weighted formula is sort of what I was thinking might be going on. They are a smaller dealer even by Maine standards so that may be my problem. I ordered a 2500 CCSB LTZ with Safety Package, Snow Plow Prep, and a few options like bedliner, floor mats, aux. battery, roof marker lamps and the trailer TPMS sensors so yes a CC and obviously nothing too elaborate. I guess the whole thing that bugs me the most is that they have been telling me for 3 weeks that they have allocation and that it is for my truck, yet this hasn't moved. I'm looking for other options and expanding my search area and if I find something, I'll be cancelling the order.
  9. I was told that I was first in line when I ordered in mid-February. They did not have allocations at the time but expected them soon. On March 8th they told me They had allocation and the order was entered but they were waiting for GM to pick it up. Here we are three weeks later, no change.I guess once we got past allocation I expected things to progress, so I’m frustrated and starting to think the dealer is jerking me around.
  10. Thanks nards, could you maybe help me understand, are you saying they don’t have allocation, or are you saying different dealers get stuff picked up quicker due to volume, etc? They swear they have the allocation.
  11. After emailing my salesman yesterday morning and calling yesterday evening, I finally got a 4 word email back at closing time last night, “still at same status”. So I checked with GM chat this morning and called the dealership. Still at 1100 and GM didn’t pick the order up once again this week. I asked the dealer if the GM rep gave any indication why it wasn’t picked up when he apparently told them last week it would be this week. They said no, that we are just at the mercy of GM. I then asked if there is anything preventing it from moving forward as in something that needs to be addressed, they again assured me that there is not. I’m at a loss after 6 weeks and told the dealer I’m going to start pursuing other options. Am I missing something, is there things that need to happen between 1100 and 2000 or is it literally a lottery for production slots or something?
  12. I've been checking in on GM chat periodically with no movement, still at 1100. Was driving by the dealer today so figured I would introduce myself to the new salesman and follow up. The manager says that he spoke with the GM rep yesterday and my order will be picked up next week. I'll take it with a grain of salt at this point, my May delivery seems to be slipping away.
  13. Thanks CT, I wasn’t 100% sure on that with the Husky’s but yes I noticed that some other brands I was looking at stick out probably 3/4”-1”. I plan to keep my tires/wheels stock so I’m not overly concerned with extending them any further like the kickback flaps or a similar style. I was mostly concerned with how far they hang down.
  14. Thanks Jimmy, this is exactly what I was looking for. These Husky flaps look very similar to the ones offered by GM and while maybe not exact they give me an idea of the fit and finish.
  15. I checked yesterday and again this morning for the heck of it. Still at 1100 which is understandable but at the end of my chat today they said to check back in 2-3 weeks. Most of you went from 1100 to 2000, or some even to 3000 in 7-10 days. Good to hear nards, as I mentioned earlier in this thread, the 4/5 TPW is more in line with the trends of everyone else's order.
  16. I was looking at GM Parts Direct and saw that GM offers some rubber mud flaps made by Laverne. Has anyone installed them and could you post some pictures? I’d like to know how they look and how far they hang down. How about other similar styles such as Duraflap, Gatorback, etc? Thanks in advance.
  17. Wxman, thank you for walking us through your build from order to delivery, I know nothing is certain but it gives those of us waiting on orders some idea on how things are progressing at the plant, shipping, etc. Congratulations on the beautiful truck, is that the Cayenne Red Tintcoat? I almost pulled the trigger on a Silverado in the Cherry Red Tintcoat but I know how I use my trucks and opted for a lighter color. As for my situation, I spoke with the salesman again and then the manager. The salesman told me that they received the allocation Thursday and that they aren't able to put the order in the system until they have allocation which I told him didn't sound right. He got the manager on the phone and he clarified that while they can enter them, they as a dealer have opted to wait until they have the allocation, enter the order and usually GM confirms allocation and everything and accepts the order and move to 2000 status within a week or so. Apparently over the last few months they have had multiple orders pulled while waiting for allocation, constraints, etc and just felt it was easier to handle/track by only entering the order once allocation was available. So according to the manager, they got the allocation Thursday, the order was entered Monday because the GM was out and I'm in that place between 1100 and 2000 where allocation is available and its just a matter of GM picking up the order. I will feel a lot better once I have a TPW.
  18. Wxman, I've been following your timeline probably the closest due to your dealer also having to wait for allocation. I went in to the dealership this morning and of course the salesman I had been talking to wasn't in today so another salesman helped me. He was actually quite helpful but what he told me just seemed to muddy the waters more. He was able to give me the order number and said that I was at event code 1100 as of today. Not having the codes in front of my I thought 1000 was like the preliminary order code and it went to 1100 once you had allocation until GM accepted the order at event code 2000. The dealer today said its a good sign, at least it's moving. Then I came home and chatted with GM and they told me that 1100 meant that the order was entered and once the dealer had allocation it would be accepted by GM, they couldn't give me any timeline for my order up to this point. I just don't understand why the salesman said 1100 as of today and yet that is the status I was led to believe I was at when I left the dealership on 2/16, order submitted, awaiting allocation. Waiting for a call back but starting to reach out to other dealers to see if anyone has available allocation.
  19. I spoke with my dealer today and frankly I'm a little confused. I placed my order on 2/16 but the dealer told me they didn't have allocation for a gasser 2500 but expected one in the next few weeks and I was next in line. I emailed my salesman on Thursday to see if they had allocation in this weeks release, but did not get a response. I called today and found out that my salesman no longer works at the dealership and I was put in touch with a new salesman. He told me that the order was in and waiting for GM to pick the order up. I asked if that meant that they were still waiting for allocation for GM to pick up the order and he told me no, they had the allocation (he made it sound like they had for awhile) and he said the system didn't reject it so that was good. I asked if he had an order number so that I can track it via the chat and he said they would only get that once GM picks up the order. So I guess I'm just not clear where I am in the process, am I waiting for 2000 based on what he is telling me? I was thinking of pulling the order and either finding another dealer with allocation available or finding another option. Thanks for the insight.
  20. A gasser Custom with 20" rims should get you 10650 GVWR which means the quoted 3760 lbs payload rating so 2850 or 900lbs under that seems like more than a configuration or package issue. I wonder if you got a truck with the lower 10000 GVWR de-rate? I've seen it on some trucks on the inventory pages where the truck has 18" or 20" rims and the "10000 lb GVWR" is on the build sheet/window sticker as an option. My assumption was this was for licensing/registration purposes in some states. If that's the case, a 10000 lb GVWR only get you up to 3139 lb for payload and I can see the 300lb reduction being due to configuration. I just looked on the build site and it's an option to get a 10000 lb GVWR on the Custom even with 20" rims. If this is the case, my assumption is that this is only a sticker/rating issue and not a physical limitation of the truck but I may be wrong.
  21. You did get to 3000 quickly, there's no doubt about that. I for one am still at 1100 after 2 weeks and 3 allocation cycles. With that said, I have yet to see a TPW in April and it just makes me nervous that they are suddenly another month out. The closest example I can find is cdh7917 who ordered on 2/15, went to 3300 on 2/25 and a TPW of 3/29. Based on your order date I would have expected you to be somewhere in the first two weeks of April. I understand that you don't have the answer, I'm just making an observation as someone who is still at 1100 and was expecting my truck sometime in May.
  22. Interesting.... Looking at the earlier posts in this thread the trend has been that TPW is quoted at about a month out once you reach 3000. You are being quoted double that.
  23. I spoke to about 6 different dealers around me, both Chevy and GMC. All of them ran me prices with the discounts. The dealer I went with was my local Chevy dealer which gave me a price $500 under supplier but didn’t make me actually apply the supplier discount (no authorization number and verification etc). They told me when talking that they were required by GM to accept the discount and weren’t allowed to pick and choose. That’s just what I was told.
  24. I hear you here and I was on the fence for a long time but when you start doing an honest calculation that payload gets eaten up quickly. For a 8k trailer, that's 800lb of tongue weight, my young (and growing) family is about 450lbs and add in my 75lb dog and all of a sudden we are down to under 600lb of actual payload before you put anything in the bed of the truck.. Add in firewood, coolers, bikes, kayaks on racks, etc and it just made more sense to go with the 2500. The OP may be a little better off with the lighter TT, but personally, the difference in price and gas mileage to go to the 2500 isn't worth running it that close every time we go camping.
  25. I saw your other post and I was in the exact same position. My 2013 1500 with 5.3 was rated to tow my 27' (32' total) Starcraft trailer (made by Jayco) and while there were plenty of times that I needed more power, the biggest complaint against the 1500 was how it handled due to maxing out the payload and wind/trucks pushing/pulling me all around. That feeling that you aren't in control of your load even if only for a split second, is troubling. I think the added weight of this truck and the extra payload/suspension capabilities will make a huge difference plus the extra power and torque will be nice.
