  1. All 4/6s on T1XX require cutting the frame. That's why it is now officially the gayest platform to drop with. I have no issue cutting into the frame, just not on a new truck lol
  2. Lol okay let me put some more thought into my explanation then. You are comparing apples to oranges with those engines. The tune for that Ecoboost is stupid safe, when on 87 octane. Low timing and low boost basically. BTW the ecoboost is recommended for 91 octane. Second of all let me roll my statement back. Sure you could get boost out of your V8 but the issue is your timing is going to be weak as hell. You also are going to make basically no power. Instead of getting say ~10hp per pound you are looking at like 3. It is just going to be not worth it. It's not that you can't it's just that it won't be worth it. And you won't be able to run high boost pressure either because of the crappy gas. The reason why I say no with AFM and boost is because I do not know a single tuner that would do that. I do not really know how AFM would react with boost. I assume it would be okay but the thing you might run into is that AFM just never activates. Your tune would just be incompatible unless you figured out a way to do it or found someone who knows how to tune boost+AFM
  3. Everything has sold!! Please close the thread!!
  4. I would go get one of the stage 3 supercharger cams off TXSpeed or get a custom grind.
  5. Lucky Saudi bastard!!! Sweet truck bro
  6. No you cannot run AFM with boost. I highly highly recommend you delete it at the same time. In terms of 87 octane and boost? Not going to happen. You will get pinging. You have got to get 91 or 93.
  7. 43-46psi sounds pretty low. It seems you lit the parts cannon off pretty damn fast lol
  8. Oh sure you can always continue to change early, never said it was the wrong way. I'm just saying you are not required.
  9. I would have just taken the seats to an upholstery shop and tried to see what they could do for you. The problem with the cloth seats is that they are missing an airbag connection I believe. Not all of the seats on these trucks are interchangeable.
  10. The new Ford Lightning should be able to go 400+. That 300 mile rating is with 1k in the bed. It is a little underrated based on some of the videos I've seen.
  11. Haha no I beg to differ, what I mean by that is the older generation is normally a bit reluctant to change. Hence why you still have a lot of guys doing 3k mile oil changes or even 5k mile oil changes. Tech nowadays is good enough to where you really don't need to do those things. Electric vehicles is another one, cell phones too. I was agreeing with you. just by the way. I just meant I've been on here long enough that I know the things you are talking about and I agree with you. Text is not the best medium.
  12. It is incredibly hard to do it without head removal. I suggest removing the head yourself and taking it to a shop. I got a total 4 bolts out of 2 different heads with disassembly and reassembly of the valves and valve springs, a cleaning and the head painted for a total of $220. Now for you it should only be like $60 if you take it to a machine shop. Mechanic is going to charge you more. You can remove the head yourself. It is pretty easy to do.
  13. Why do you use so many periods took me a while to understand what you were saying and I'm still confused! I've been on the boards long enough, and around old people long enough, to know that is the general pushback you get.
  14. I was going to mention that as well is that some of the lifter failures you see can be earlier than the 5k mark or even a little later mark such as 15-20k. Playing devil's advocate though you could argue that if it is sub 5k miles then the tech that built the truck caused it haha I'm just waiting on a GM electric truck that isn't the hummer cause that thing is ugly
  15. GMPD always shafts you with shipping cost. I would try the dealership, some of the dealerships can order you parts at cost depending on who you know or at least tell you of a dealer that has the part in stock near you. That's how I get a majority of my stuff.
  16. I figured that the LS and Ecotec would use the same lifters etc. I thought they would have a little different programming now though considering the system is somewhat different DFM vs AFM no? I mean I guess the programming is the same in how the lifter acts but maybe not how the collective lifters act in terms of when they do or do not shut down. So again you are trying to argue something I agree with you on. I understand the AFM delete. I still am arguing against this being an owner oiling issue. This is an engineering issue again and it is stated quite clearly in the Melling document you provided. How is an owner supposed to prevent oil pressure bleed off when a lifter bore is getting marred up and leaking pressure lmao I don't get how you don't see that. It's written so clearly in that document. I think we are arguing the same thing you just don't understand what I am trying to say. Let's just take AFM deletes out of the equation. I don't believe an owner's maintenance has an affect on if the engine does or does not have an AFM failure. An owner can change their oil every 5k miles and it will not have a single thing to do with the oil pressure bleed off in the lifter bore. Sorry those two things just don't correlate. Btw just because something is engineered poorly does not mean it will affect everyone the same and it does not mean the outcome is always going to be the same. That is just the truth.
  17. Grumpy you need glasses lmao look literally right above my paragraph. It says "Source?". Now either your deduction skills are lacking in your old age or you failed high school literature. I understand what I said. Yes they go farther with a deleted system. But what I am saying is is that it is doubtful it is an OWNER oiling issue. And instead an ENGINEERING oiling issue. Again I will quote my original post for you so you don't have to stress your wrinkle-less brain too much.
  18. I'd say check with the noid light next.
  19. Hmmm I am thinking it has got to be a fueling issue on bank one. did you swap injectors? Move all of bank one to bank two? I don't see that you had
  20. Well if you are getting a code for no cats it is going to screw with your fueling. Maybe not a misfire but it will mess with the fuel
  21. Have you checked for compression and spark? Have you also used a noid light on the wiring harness to see if all the injectors are pulsing fuel? What codes are you getting? Maybe these are some dumb questions but just want to double check all the basics. I would also suggest take it to the dealer before throwing more parts at it.
  22. Downstream sensors do nothing.
  23. lol?? I asked for source for your bogus claim the melling said it is an oiling related issue and that was your response. Pipeline was my only thought on why you wouldn't shut your truck off. Hell when I was framing and landscaping I just left all the windows down. I've worked the outside jobs and used the work trucks but we normally brought our own generator to power everything and no trucks were left on. Not all jobs require that though so I understand that My main point from what I said is that given the same oil change intervals between the two different sets of lifters the AFM ones are the only ones to fail. This is why I think that the answer from Melling is a cop out.
  24. Not bad, looks much closer to your red paint than the original. I wonder if you could get it almost the exact same color...
  25. Source? I highly doubt that considering we are seeing failures before end of warranty where the owner is often times still taking the truck in for maintenance. If someone had lifter failure and then deletes the system I can just about guarantee you that their oil change schedule doesn't change yet somehow they miraculously go farther with the non-AFM lifters. I think that if what Melling said is a cop out.
