  1. Was thinking first year run for the Z/28 was going to be 500. Turns out it was 515. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=379269 Know they were talking about building more than 500 in 2015, but the car is so far out of my league that I never read much further.
  2. Agreed. Curious where the value of these cars will be in 20 years? Obvious unknown, but given the past history where cars that have exotic specs & pricing with limited availability, they only go up. Even more curious what Chevrolet is going to offer with the 2016's? Will there be a 1LE/ZL1/Z28 variants out of the gate? Can't wait to find out...
  3. Sure glad the guy in post 430 is OK. Know the next Gen Camaro are going to be smaller, but these things are near bullet proof from the various crashes & hits I have seen. Cannot imagine how the old Gen 4 F body would have looked in a similar accident, much less the driver.
  4. Does that still count as getting all the power to the ground? Granted, it did not even need the tires to do so...
  5. I was one of those Pontiac guys too. Stopped by a dealer in 2006 staring at a GTO. Miss the Firebird, but after finding out it had been wrecked by the previous owner, it got traded off a few months after this was taken in September 2006.
  6. Found this a few minutes ago at http://www.topspeed.com/cars/chevrolet/2016-chevrolet-camaro-ar162721.html
  7. More plies = gooder. ;) Have 16 ply Michelin steer tires on the Pete(way over kill for what I do) that sag on the sidewalls as much as the 14 ply B/stones that came off of it. Am guessing the issue you are seeing now is nothing unless they are dry rotting/cracked? Do not tow with my half ton, but will buy Load Range E 10 ply for replacements. If the money is there at the time it will be a Michelin LTX variant due to past experience with them. But again, will have to see how the pricing is at the time. & the Kelly tires you were looking & passed on are a wholly owned subsidiary of Goodyear.
  8. Nice truck, but trucks aside, you definitely scored the best location.
  9. Wanting to say that there were going to be three different rear ends(not gears) matching each of the new engines? May be wrong on that as it was info from when they were announcing them. But this is current GM media for the K2xx 6.2L set up. The available 6.2L EcoTec3 V-8 is the most powerful engine offered in the light-duty segment, with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Like other EcoTec3 engines, it combines proven performance with advanced fuel-saving technologies, seamlessly switching to four cylinders to improve efficiency in light-load driving The available Max Trailering Package includes a 9.76-inch rear axle, heavy-duty rear springs, revised shock tuning for increased control, enhanced cooling, and an integrated trailer brake controller. Also included is the G80 locking rear differential, a trailer hitch, and bumper-mounted four- and seven-pin connectors Sierra’s standard 4.3L EcoTec3 V-6 and available 5.3L EcoTec3 V-8 also will offer significant towing capability for 2015, with maximum available trailer weight ratings of 7,600 pounds for the V-6 and 11,200 pounds for the 5.3L. http://media.gm.com/media/us/en/gmc/news.detail.html/content/Pages/news/us/en/2014/Jun/0619-gmc-sierra1500.html
  10. Straight to youtube link with more videos for Camaro6. This thing sounds really good. LT1 from the C7? Have never been much about lowering cars, but it looks like it has tons of ground clearance...it may need lowered a bit. Cannot wait until all the wrap & padded parts of the car are revealed. Really curious what they have done to the interior as well.
  11. Figured this may fit in here. This is the short version, obviously the longer version on yt.
  12. Yeah, can't wait to see it in Detroit w/o all the camo. More photos here too. http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=379197
  13. Did not want to start a new thread for this, but was walking around a dealership yesterday & noticed the new tow mirrors on a half ton. No sticker in the window, so not sure how much $$$. Am sure it is on the build site.
  14. Those wheels look even better in person! Saw a Red Rock Metallic 1LE the other day that has been driving me insane. Always buy black vehicles, but it contrasted really well. Going to *try* to hang back, watch the Detroit Auto Show for the 2016 debut. Worst case, score a deal on a outgoing 2015. But the wait... Photo attached sourced from google images.
  15. Really wish you would stop posting this crap! Been staring at 1LE's for the past couple weeks & your pics do NOT help. Obviously joking, but when did you get the wheels? The last time I saw this or a similar thread *thought* you had just coated your factory 5 spoke wheels. Regardless, looks great.
  16. Thinking it will be the 2016 model year by the time they dwindle the 8 speed down to the 5.3 &/or 4.3. 2009 was the split model year if I remember right between some trucks with the 5.3 to have the 4 or 6 speed? GM is building the trans in house at their Toledo, OH plant. $260 million in plant upgrades just to build the thing & the project was started in 2011. http://www.toledoblade.com/Automotive/2014/07/08/Toledo-plant-ready-to-roar-into-production.html <~Link 2 month old info. But agree with you in that wish these would have been ready to roll out when the truck was introduced.
  17. The State or NHTSA is not going to help much if any. Keep knocking on dealers doors until someone will fix it under warranty. Maybe you have already found a dealer to fix it since this post is a month old?
  18. What headlights? Definitely look brighter than stock.
  19. Pretty sure the only part that was converted to aluminum was the hood. Would have to imagine the dents are from stressing the frame over bumps/irregularities in the road. May want to stop by a truck stop when you roll out for your trip & pay for a scale. As long as you break the wheels right on the individual scale sections, you can see just how much weight is on your steer & how much is on your drive along with total weight. Generally $9-$12.
  20. Not the biggest fan of red, but that one would do it. Curious as to why the 6.2 is not on the option list? Maybe they omitted due to the 6.2 being a later order date with the 8 speed.
  21. You can buy Fluid Film on Amazon. Have never looked for it in local stores, but may be there as well. Have mentioned this elsewhere though, look into KBS Coatings. You can brush it on & it will look sprayed(Provided it is not 90+ degrees in high humidity as I learned) but other than that, great product. Have used it on the frame of a Peterbilt & it really does work. Edit: add link. Skip to the 2:55 mark.
  22. Generally if the up front price is good, the resale side is horrible. Then add $10-$12k off of higher end stuff, you may have to drive that Express 'til the wheels fall off. Back to the Colorado/Canyon market. Read where... GM believes that both Chevy and GMC products will offer an interesting proposition to small-CUV shoppers. If that is the case, cuv buyers will not be directly comparing full size to mid size trucks. More at link... http://www.autoblog.com/2014/07/29/gm-thinks-colorado-canyon-lure-cuv-buyers/ Personally think both trucks will be a small niche market aimed at meeting or offsetting CAFE standards. With the latter being important in the equation, success is going to be more complicated to measure given GM has no problem selling higher end Big V8 heavy trucks/SUV's.
  23. Would you rather have a co that will recall when THEY find something or one that will ignore things? That is the question you have to ask yourself at purchase. Right now GM is under scrutiny, recalls would not weigh in on my decision to purchase one.
  24. It is the placebo effect of virtually every possible mod ever done to a vehicle after leaving the factory. From what I can tell, every mod adds 20 hp, but the debate is still between 1 OR 2 mpg improvement. Have seen forum posts(on other sites) where people were debating the effect of wax on mpg. Better wax, better mpg posts to boot. That said, have not changed the gear oil on the 2013, but when I did the 2007 dually some years ago, it was some ugly(factory)stuff coming out. Put Schaeffers back in & just did the semi a month or so ago. Small side note, neither showed ANY fuel mileage improvement but were due from a mileage standpoint.
  25. Adjusting speed may help a few tenths, but will not over come that lift & tread. Definitely looks cool, but does cost at the pump to run that set up.
