  1. Hi PJH, Read back over this thread. You gotta switch out a part inside the steering column. Please take it to an independent mechanic and show them this thread. Have them order the part and switch it out. Should be less than 2 hrs of labor.
  2. Really have liked my PIRELLI SCORPION ALL TERRAIN PLUS E LT275/65R-20 3-Peak
  3. Work truck story makes sense. Naturally aspirated. No cylinder deact. No DEF. No over-thought, complex “comfort features” … and a HIGHLY refined masterpiece of a transmission.
  4. Mine did that too. And it cleared up with time. But I still can get a hard 2-1 downshift in the right circumstances.
  5. FWIW 10 yrs ago my precious Chevy Tahoe, along with two neighboring vehicles were broken into with some sorta wireless device while parked in an extremely expensive shopping area. When got back to my parked vehicle and pressed the unlock button on my fob the lights flashed in a way I hadn’t seen before. Thieves got my iPad and items from inside the neighboring cars. Don’t know how a fob pouch would’ve helped but I can say high tech crime does happen. Didnt know that the pedal commander has that feature… gonna have to read more about that!
  6. I’d call them, honestly. Think they are used to talking through these things.
  7. Cognito Comfort Ride for the springs. Tried to find something cheaper, but didn’t find many other options at the time. Mark, I think we were after the same thing. But you got me beat with the dually. DRW 3500 might be my next truck.
  8. FWIW switched out my leaf pack for a softer leaf pack and added air lift bags. Deadens the bumps which I like but feels less like an old school springy pickup. My purpose was to improve ride and maintain some of the payload ability. I don’t go over max payload and this setup has suited me well.
  9. Have this problem in my truck too. Completely intermittent. Thought it was slushy snow in the door originally. Drives my wife nuts when it happens on a long drive.
  10. Amazing job. Looks great. The way pickup trucks are supposed to look.
  11. Recently was towing 8000lbs myself, in my gasser. As always, it did fine. Seemed comfortable with it. The diesel is a completely different truck IMHO. If I was big time RV’n guy, I’d have one. And some times I still miss it when my truck is loaded down. But for me, dealing with DEF and all the system complexities is why I chose my simple 6 speed gas pickup. As far as Eco Boost… Incredible power. My friend blew up his. But to be honest, he ran it really hard. He swapped the motor and wasn’t mad. In fact can’t get him to bad mouth that motor.
  12. Thank you Epsilon for documenting the whole thing and forging the path! May take me some time, but I think I gotta do it!
  13. Thank you Madden Motors Ltd and the rest of ya! Swapped out that part and key comes out like new again.
  14. FWIW Been meaning to add to the post. I ain’t no fuel expert but every time I drive through the south end of SLC, UT on highway 15 (normally at night and normally it’s cool temps), I get 21 mpg for a stretch that is at least 50 miles long. The DIC even showed 22 mpg on one trip. Always have wondered why since it’s a very flat stretch of highway. Altitude? Low temps? I always run 87 octane.
  15. FWIW My truck started burning oil at about a yr old, 25-30,000 mi. And yes it was about what the ridiculous GM spec says, 1 quart / 1000 mi. Was always using cheap oil and filter. After reading you guys argue oil and then talking to my mechanic friend, started on M1 oil and filter, and reduced down to 4000 interval. Never burned oil again. 65,000 mi now.
  16. So I gotta “fix”, after a lot of trial and error. You can get the key out if you push the key in, then rotate til it’s about to start. So you hold it past the point where you feel the spring engage while also pushing it in, but before the starter kicks in. You hold it there a listen for a very faint click. Once you hear that click, you can turn the key back out and it releases. Someone here more technical than me can probably diagnose it from here, but this works. again, when I finally bring my truck into the dealership I’m gonna ask them what this is and report more back to y’all.
  17. Cognito soft ride leaf packs + air bags works also I drop my air pressure to 50 psi when the wife’s with me.
  18. Thanks guys, ‘preciate the info
  19. Thanks y’all for the info. Complicated world we’re living in…
  20. Got the same problem with mine, sprayed it with Food grade silicone like the now forgotten Jettech suggested. Much improved but not perfect. Gotta jiggle it just right to get it out. When I bring my truck back into the stealership in the next few weeks I will be asking them. Will report back what I hear..
  21. Said it here before. Don’t know much about oil but after 60k miles, my truck runs considerably smoother with <4k intervals with quality oil.
  22. Hey anyone else have this experience? First time for me. Recently went to a gas station in Las Vegas, NV that had a low price posted on the sign for 87 octane. So I pulled in. When I went to pump the gas noticed the price on the pump was 10 cents higher than posted on the sign. So got mad and left. Believe it or not pulled into a neighboring gas station and same thing, when I went to pump the gas, noticed the price was again 10 cents higher than the big sign out front. so I just paid it..
  23. Informative. Rings true with what a mechanic friend has always said to me. Thank you.
  24. I may learn something here... Are you saying that you only let it turn on automatically and that you don’t ever manually?
