  1. Krown rustproofing, every year.
  2. The 1500's and 3500's are far from the same electrically. Try the body builder's manuals and compare, the schematics in there have the BCM pinouts.
  3. According to GM, it's the first modern engine of theirs that didn't fail during testing.
  4. Here in Montreal, once you're past 4 years, you're on borrowed time. 4-5 years has been my experience for any make/model.
  5. I have a '23. You need to tap into 2 wire at the BCM, plus the OBD connector.
  6. In the owner's manual, transmission use section: look for "car wash mode". Several options, but for a tow: To place the vehicle in N (Neutral) with the engine off and the vehicle unoccupied: 1. Drive to the entrance of the car wash. 2. Apply the brake pedal. 3. Open the door. 4. Shift to N (Neutral). 5. Turn off the engine and release the brake pedal. 6. The indicator should continue to show N. If it does not, repeat Steps 2–5. 7. Exit the vehicle and close the door. The vehicle is now ready for the car wash. 8. The vehicle may automatically shift to P (Park) upon re-entry. Should work with the truck on (long press of the start/stop), the engine doesn't need to be running.
  7. Looks like the grounding strap strikes again. TSB(2019 & up): #23-NA-201: Loss of Steering Assist and/or Loss of Brake Assist Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Illuminated - DTCs P25A2, U0422, C1595, U0420, C116C, B3205, B127B, and/or B1325 Set - (Dec 14, 2023) Some customers may comment on one or more of the following conditions: Loss of steering assist Loss of power brakes assist MIL illuminated Some technicians may find one or more of the following DTCs set: B127B B1325 B3205 C116C C1595 P25A2 U0420 U0422 This condition may be caused by High resistance in the G132 and G133 grounds, located behind the RH wheelhouse liner.
  8. The setting is on your phone and is vehicle specific if your phone is paired to multiple cars.
  9. I'm looking to add a 40 or 50 amp DC-DC charger to charge my travel trailer's batteries when solar can't keep up. Does the alternator have enough capacity at idle to support the load? I want to say yes, as the onboard AC outlets are rated 400W, so 30ish amps at 13.5v, but can't find any data to back up my assumption.
  10. It wasn't compatible with GM's. Plus, my insurance paid for Tag (https://www.tagtracking.ca/en) and didn't offer an additional discount for a kill switch. Considering that I'm in Montreal, the car theft capital of Canada, and that's all the insurance wants. So be it.
  11. If you pumped the brakes without pads, there's a good chance you over-extended the pistons. That may be your leak.
  12. Disabling the Alexa app fixed it for me. But, I've also disable Google assistant as I don't have a data plan (gets rid of the speech services message at startup). You can try disabling the assistant and see what happens.
  13. It's the Alexa app. Go into settings, Apps & preferences. Find Alexa and click on it. Hit the disable button. GM bulletin #PIT6032. Disabling Alexa is the solution in the first release of that bulletin. The subsequent versions of the bulletin don't mention disabling Alexa. Makes me wonder if they got in trouble with Amazon. Did it on mine. It's not a 100% fix, but the frequency of it happening is much, much lower.
  14. Just go to carpart.com. I just did this looking for the even more elusive grey cloth. It seems I was coming across quite a few black. Just go through all the options for the rear seats, many yards aren't too careful with classifying interior parts. Paid $300 for the entire rear seat including the benches (the yard wouldn't sell just the back).
  15. The truck should have ANC, especially with the Bose with its separate amp. Alldata says it can be toggled with a scan tool talking to the amp. I have the 2.7, quietest car/truck I've ever owned. Quieter than my Volt, even.
  16. Figured out how to get rid of the messages shown below: Go into settings -> apps -> all apps Look for Google assistant and press on it. Hit the disable button. Done. You'll lose the native maps and a few other apps, but you can't use them without a data plan anyways. Android Auto still works flawlessly.

  17. The 2.7 has pulled well for me on steep slopes (up to 15%) with my 4300# trailer. Barely makes a fuss about it. TBF, no long, continuous climbs near me. The 2.7 really does drive like a diesel, but much quieter.
  18. Had this happen a few weeks ago. You're fine to drive, but your cooling fans will be on full blast (the computers can't figure out if the shutters are open or closed). There is a TSB on this. There's a wire that can get pinched and/or water in a connector. It was less than an hour labor.
  19. It might have gone up as I haven't been in a year or so, but $70 CDN at Costco for Mobil full synthetic. Yes, Costco does oil changes in some provinces in Canada. And they back their work if they mess up (very rare) to the tune of an engine replacement. Book an appointment online, drop off at the garage. You've got 45 min to do your shopping. Very convenient.
  20. First thing I tried was removing the account. Didn't try forgetting the wi-fi. I'll give that a shot.
  21. I often get these messages when I start the truck. What setting needs to change to avoid them? I don't have onstar or any data for my truck. Thanks
  22. Check for a vacuum leak anywhere downstream from the MAF.
  23. Try a pick and pull scrap yard. This setup has been common across a lot of GM vehicles for quite a few years now.
  24. I have a 2023 with the 2.7. Is it normal to still be having fairly strong burn in smells with almost 900km on it now? I'm getting a smell a bit like brake or clutch from the engine compartment. The brakes are not overheating, nor is the smell coming from the wheel wells. With the hood open, the smell is strongest on the right side of the engine. I'm hoping it's just manufacturing oils burning off the turbo, but would like another opinion before bringing it to the dealer. Thanks
