  1. If IRC there is a thread on here where someone took their switch apart and took that spring out so he could control the headlights. You will have to search on here more. I suck when it comes to searching this site.
  2. Yes, I was looking at the Chevy SS. 4 doors but still comes in a manual.
  3. They are offering 20% discount on the SS now. It would give us way more room to enjoy. I would just need to do a few MODS to get the HP up. Still not sure on that or wait for the 2019 Silverado.
  4. That is some serious HP right there. I'm trying to organize my finances and just don't drive the camaro enough to justify keeping it. Would really like to see it go to a good home. For now it will just sit in the garage.
  5. I didn't do anything to the Camaro other than put an add for it for sale. https://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/d/black-2013-camaro-2ss-rs/6360959953.html
  6. Installed a Magnaflow 13219 in place of my rusted out Flowmaster 70 series big block muffler that rusted out. Also installed a new windshield. Now I can see when driving into the early morning and late afternoon sun.
  7. I have not seen anyone go that long on Signature Series oil in these new engines yet. I did have a customer that had a 2005 suburban with the 5.3 and they went 20k miles which was once a year and the UOA came back fine. I suggest if you want to go that long to do a UOA at 10k miles and see how well it is doing. That way you will know for sure and then you can extend and recheck. Yes AMSOIL claims 25 miles or one year. In most cases the average individual does severe driving and then AMSOIL recommends 15k or one year.
  8. To me any time you improve your health it will have a positive effect on your life no matter what you do. It just makes sense. Feed you body quality fuel and exercise to stay fit and it can only improve your life. Steadier hand, better eye sight, lower blood pressure, stronger muscle tone, how can this not help? Feed you vehicle junk fuel, don't add aftermarket mods and it will not preform better. Kind of the same concept.
  9. I finally got around to claying the 2002 Silverado today and then putting a nice coat of sealant/polish on it. It cleans up well for a 16 year old vehicle that has a hard life living out in the weather.
  10. I don't know. Maybe that it was never a stocked item because it wasn't foreseen as a failure part. Don't know, but at least they are getting ours fixed and not having to wait.
  11. An update to this, the dealer called and said that they have to replace the steering gear. Of course it is on national back order but they located one from another dealer. Talking to MS3DALE this isn't an issue from what he can see. So if that is the case then why is the part on national back order? At least they found the problem and it is a good fix, I hope.
  12. Well it is intermittent now. It went out and then today it was working again. Like any "spark" chasing it can be hard to find the problem until it stays broke. So we will see when I take it to the dealer. I can say this much, seeing some older individuals driving around in the new Escalades, if the power steering when out they would not be able to steer that is for sure. It isn't just hard it is down right tough.
  13. Driving the burb and a message pops up on the display to service power steering. Well I can say that it is a major PITA to steer. I'm no weakling and turning into a parking spot takes all I can to turn it. I understand the need to improve vehicles and get more power and economy from a vehicle but the old hydraulic PS was pretty reliable. There is no way I would be able to avoid a collision if one popped up in front of me. This is a serious issue. So an FYI for everyone, if yours goes out be prepared to get a serious arm workout. I looked at the fuse panel and I didn't see any thing listed as power steering. So no sure what fuse to check. Sent from my MaxiPad
  14. I finally got around to changing out my windshield washer tank. It had a small leak that was starting to get worse. Sucked having to take the battery out and all that crap but it was done in an hour. I also washed it. Still looking good after 16 years.
  15. I've been told and read on line that OEM is the way to go. Safelite glass is "softer", if that makes any sense and pits and chips easier. My 02 is really hazy from all the miles and when I drive into the sun it is like there is a light haze on the windshield from all the sand pits. My wife even noticed. I considered getting Safelite which will cost me $110 installed. Have not checked on the OEM. I also have 5 chips in my windshield. Right now I have other bills to pay so I have been putting off getting a new windshield.
  16. Man, think of all those oil changes.
  17. Sorry, this is on our 2016 Suburban and it has the G80 and good catch they are Continentals. Love'em.
  18. Well, since the rear diff gasket is reusable. I went and changed it out. The fluid in there had only 7,100 miles on it and it what a nice charcoal color. The magnet, in the bottom of the diff under the ring gear had a bunch of fuzz on it. I tried to take it out but further investigation shows that it is RTV'ed to the bottom of the diff, so I let it alone and cleaned it up the best I could. The 10mm diff cover bolts where on there pretty tight. I couldn't loosen them with a 1/4" ratchet. I had to use a 3/8. Plus the lock tight that was on them was holding strong. I had to use the ratchet to get them most of the way out. I couldn't loosen them by hand. So I cleaned it all up, put the cover back on and snugged the bolts back down. Filled it back up with 2qts and 24oz of AMSOIL Severe Gear 75w-90. This pretty much filled it until it started to drip out the fill hole. Oh, before I started I took the fill plug out and a little fluid ran out, so it was serviced correctly and so that is where I put it back to.
  19. Yes, I always make sure I can remove the fill plug. Just because it is new doesn't mean it will be easy to remove. The process is easy, just get a pump for your qt bottles so you can pump the fluid into the diffs and T case. You can pick up a pump at Advance Auto, O'Riley's, Auto Zone or others.
  20. Only 7,100 miles total on the vehicle.
  21. Changed out the front diff fluid. It was a nice grey milky fluid and I only got 1qt and 8oz out. Put 1qt and 24oz back in before it started to run out the fill hole. So it seems it was under serviced. I also serviced the T case. It took just about 2 full qts before it started running out as well. It is so easy to do. Might just do it once a year. I didn't get to the rear. I didn't do my home work to find out it has a reusable gasket. So I'll get it some time this week while the weather is warm. I did put it on my lift and I think it is a wee bit to heavy. I did manage to get the wheels off the ground but the lift didn't want to move very fast so I didn't push it. Just enough clearance to get under it while it sat level to service everything.
  22. AMSOIL isn't that hard to acquire. You can either get it from me or do an online search and see if there is a dealer close to you. Some Advance Auto Stores around here carry it. Doesn't get any easier than that. You just have to do a little searching.
  23. It has some good info. The only thing is it is 4 years old and oil formulations have change a good bit since then. To stay current he would have to do this basically every year. Just like the new diesel oils that are coming out. Taken from the API.org site. "API FA-4 oils are neither interchangeable nor backward compatible with API CK-4, CJ-4, CI-4 with CI-4 PLUS, CI-4, and CH-4 oils. Refer to engine manufacturer recommendations to determine if API FA-4 oils are suitable for use. API FA-4 oils are not recommended for use with fuels having greater than 15 ppm sulfur. For fuels with sulfur contents greater than 15 ppm, refer to engine manufacturer recommendations." So in this case, if you diesel calls for the FA-4 that is what needs to be used. It can not be used in anything that calls for any other spec since it is not backwards compatible like the way dexos™2 is now.
  24. Yes, proven by UOA's that run this weight oil.
