I ordered 10/30/2018 and got a TPW of 12/31/2018 and event code 3000. I don't know how I feel about it being built the week of New Years. LOL Hope the production line isn't a bunch of party going individuals. Looks like it will be late Jan before it is here. Which is fine, maybe there might be some incentives by then I can take advantage of.

The crankshaft sensor is above the starter here is a video showing it. Youtube is your friend when it comes to fixing things. -

Possibly the oil pressure sensor as well. In the mean time, go get a piece of scrap vinyl floor from a flooring store to put under the truck to keep the oil from getting on the cement floor. -

No, that isn't how it works. The by-pass pressure is the delta P across the filter media. When that pressure is exceeded then it will go into by-pass, like when you go WOT or when the filter gets loaded up. The main reason they went to a higher by--pass is because of the new variable oil pump and system. The filter was going into by-pass more often at a lower setting so they raised it. -

Washed and waxed the 2002 Silverado today. Getting it ready for winter. Not that they are bad here. -
What Have You Done With Your T1 Today ?????
Black02Silverado replied to Sierra Dan's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
There is a give and take to filters that flow better than others. Better flow doesn't always mean clean air. Some have noticed after using a K&N air filter, that after they cleaned it they could see tiny pin holes through the filter when held up to the sun. Also if not cleaned and oiled correctly, you can get a layer of fine oil on your MAS. -
What size filter does it take now? Nice setup!

Sierra 1500 Denali magnetic ride shock failure?
Black02Silverado replied to Magoomba's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
I'm not thrilled with the ride on our Suburban. To me it is really stiff with the magna ride. We got an extended warranty due to the issues from what I have read online on the shocks going bad so early. Now wish we didn't get it. We will more than likely go the same route and put on a replacement kit. From what you posted and I have read it is the better way to go. -

How many filters? I don't see an issue running them especially if you do 3 to 5k oil changes. My take in this is the new oil system on these new engines probably was putting a higher pressure delta P across the filter and causing it to go into by-pass mode off and on so they raised the psi. -
That is a nice looking rack and very functional! Good job on the write-up.

Good info, thanks. I will be adding foot-well lighting as well. Hate getting in and not having it. It is standard on my 2002. Can't believe they got rid of it. -
I would think they could. If not you could just get a Bowtie and have it put on the front and let them spray over it.

Cosmoline is some nasty stuff. Had to clean that off equipment that we got in while I was in the Air Force. Sticky nasty stuff that was hard to get off so it would be great but then it would also attract dust and dirt. AMSOIL's Heavy-Duty Metal Protector would be a good choice to coat underneath a vehicle.

Vacuumed out the 2002. The Catch All mats that I put in did a great job keeping the factory carpet clean. -

I forgot to mention my 2002 Silverado that I purchased new with 10 miles on it back in Nov 2001. It got to the point that it was using oil at around 100k miles a qt to 5k miles. If I was towing my 5k pound trailer up and down the interstate, the next day on start up it would puff a nice cloud of smoke. Then at 182k miles it started an oil leak. So I went and changed out what I thought to be the issue. Oil pressure switch since it looked wet. Leak still there, changed out oil pan gasket. Leak still there. Next stop was valve cover gaskets, intake gaskets and valley cover gasket. Leak still there. Last stop, rear main seal. Changed it and leak gone, nice and dry now. After all that the next time I towed our trailer and got in the truck the next morning no more puff of smoke. Also my oil consumption went away. It stays full now so far up to 6k miles. Have not gone longer since the gasket change since it was just this past spring. Seems to me that I had a small leak where it was sucking oil from the valley area into the intake some how. Because once that got fixed the smoke and consumption went away. So now at 184k miles and even running 0w-20 oil, no smoke on start up and no consumption. Remember this engine calls for 5w-30. I'm just glad the leak was fixed along with my consumption issue. I'm a happy camper. My 2014 Cruze diesel has 68k miles on it and it stays full and I have gone 10k miles on an oil change on it. Same with my daughters 2012 Cruze with the 1.4 turbo. It stays full as well between oil changes. Now I did have a oil burner, a 1991 Jetta diesel. It started out light and got really bad at 100k miles to a qt in 500 miles. But that was due to a poor rebuild. The shop I took it to didn't have a clue. The first 1000 miles it was using oil really bad and smoking. I pulled it apart and found broken piston rings on #2 cylinder. Looks like they did it when they installed the piston. So i put all new rings back in. My fault for not re-honing the cylinders so the new rings didn't seat from there on out. I'm just lucky it never ran away from me using the sump oil as fuel. There are horror stories on line where the 1.6 diesel in older VW's would do that. They would start to suck oil out of the sump and go full throttle and nothing you could do to stop them. Now I hope I don't jinks myself and my vehicles will start using oil.

No issues with changing out the fluids and leaks. The gear oil now in your truck is synthetic. Going with a brand name synthetic is a good choice. Mobil 1, Redline or AMSOIL Severe Gear® 75W-90 It now comes in this nice squeeze pack. Makes oil changes on diffs so much easier. Anyone interested in Severe Gear send me a PM and I can get you a quote delivered to your door.

I'm thinking they will start production on the CC standard bed in Nov. That would make it hit the lots around the first of the year. I'm wanting one myself. Problem is living in a small town, not sure when they will lift the constraints off smaller dealers so they can order them. So it looks like I might have to wait. Heck I wanted one last year at this time so what is a couple more months when I have been waiting over a year now.

Thanks for all the great info. The Suburban is my wifes ride. She loves it and so I just maintain it. We got the extended warranty. I guess when that warranty runs out then I will go this route. I will say this much. I'm not impressed with the MagneRide. Feels really harsh. Going over speed bumps really can jar ya. Heck my 2002 seems to take speed bumps better.
-
This is why we opted for the extended warranty and made sure the shocks were covered. Mag ride is expensive and chances are, (at least for us and our luck) they will go bad within 100k miles. I'm sure there are some on here that can offer more info. But you need to put the original style shock back on to keep from getting any warning lights since it is a magnetic ride suspension.
