  1. For those questioning the Bilsteins and waiting for warranty to expire??, just swap them out and you will understand why the Bilsteins are way better. Have always swapped oem to Bilsteins if they are available for my ride. I swapped to 5100s within 3,000 miles on my current truck. Much more controlled ride on all roads. Not harsh like OEM. Settles rear wheel hop on rough road corners. Plus you can raise the front end with the 5100s. Have run the yellows on my sub since it was new. Even had Bilsteins on my Datsun 280Z. Also, any ride that does not come with Michelins is driven from the dealer to Discount, as I did on this truck. Or pick your favorite tire and just dump the oems already. Never have understood why folks spend 35-50 grand on a truck and then settle for the oem low bidder ride for 30,000 miles or more. Just figure it into a new truck budget. When a friend of mine dumped ,after 20,000 miles, his 20 inch badyears for Michelins he was kicking himself for waiting.
  2. I put Michelins on the first day I had the truck and Bilstein 5100s the first month. Never understood why one spends 40-55,000 on a truck and then ride around on the two cheap oem items that affect the ride. Have it in your budget when you buy. If not just wait tell you can and then buy. 5100s are around $350-450 for 4 depending where you buy. Labor to install should be one to 1 1/2 hour for shop time.
  3. Really, is this regional rep for real? Did the dealership push back? Glad everyone finally worked around the regional guy. The thing to watch is oil filters. My service Mgr. said GM had some warranty issues when a torn down engine that failed had oil filter material blocking oil flow. The filter was an aftermarket one. I have used Delco filters since. I have a GMC dealership within 6 miles and drive 60 miles past two more to go to the one I deal with. There is a reason for such. Service! Fixed on warranty when can. Always loan me a truck or SUV.
  4. O ring in oil pump can fail resulting in low oil pressure. Light and gauge should indicate the low pressure.
  5. Did the O-ring seal fail? This is an issue on the 900s and model before.
  6. Turn off AFM and add catch can asap before rings clog anymore than what they have now.
  7. Congrats! Is there a way to search for a 900 model 6.2 or just a long auto trader, check each truck that comes up method?
  8. No not new, it is the normal ring/piston change out for the oil burners covered on this thread.
  9. Oil burn continues on my 09 with AFM off (catch can installed) and this is with the PCV update and valve cover update. We did not do the ring/piston part of update. Now at 70,000 getting the lifter clatter on heat sink starts on cold days. Lifter job on the 5.3 is a lot of man hours and truck will be gone if gets worse. Early 900s have the AFM lifter problem. Why did I not buy a 6.2 in 09??? Any one got a 900 SLT 6.2 they want to sell? The'14-'15sl 6.2 now have AFM.
  10. The 5.3 lifter replacement is 23 hour of work according to the book. So in the case I cited, they went with a rebuilt engine swap. AFM Lifters are a know problem for the 900 series trucks. GM says the redesigned lifters are now good to go but I would still kill the AFM on a new truck.
  11. It is the lifters that worry me. The system allows the lifters to collapse. Just saw a 2010 sub get a new rebuilt 5.3 because of lifters. 120,000 miles. It was more cost effective to replace the engine than to tear the old one down for lifters. 23 hour job for lifters. Paid a little more but got a rebuilt engine. They suspect the afm causing the lifters to fail. IF I buy another GM the afm will be off from the first day. Or trade often. And yes I have heard they have improved the lifters. However you will not know for sure till miles are on the truck and most likely out of warranty.
  12. I hear what you say. They would have to put a sensor on it. However, There appears to be oil already in the intake manifold. When we put my RX on we vacuumed out oil. Wish I had put a catch can on from the day I drove off the lot. I Will if I ever trust GM enough to buy another one.
  13. The thread is to help folks resolve their problem. Lets stay on track with that and not well it is not that wide spread or other mfgs have issues etc.....
  14. Yep, laugh a minute for the folks that put out big bucks to GM for a vibrating ride on smooth roads. Most truck folks already know the trd is a bad ride.
  15. Their network? Tell them you want to trade for a Ford. Can you get a buy back so you can buy what you want where you want?
  16. Moisture in headlight, Oh, GM says Situation normal, all jacked up...should go away in six hours or maybe not...and do not worry you will not be able to see at night on a dark road, situation normal. GM solution: please drive only on lighted roads and do not look at your head lights. Next customer for service please.
  17. Source please. Thank you for the time taken to reply.
  18. There a lot of new GM trucks that do not have this issue. That said I would wait till spring if possible.
  19. Well one does service their tranny now. Drop pan and add a few quarts. Or you can do full exchange of fluid but really expensive. I did the pan and a few quarts at 30,000 and will again at 70-80,000. If it is leaking you will know. If over heated you should know and be watching temps while towing. Otherwise tranny fluid is not going anywhere and will be in good condition. I do not buy the lifetime or 100,000 miles stuff and service the tranny. Independent shops will have the ability to service the tranny.
  20. I talked to RX. He stated that there CCs did not require cleaning. I was short on time and did not ask why. You may wish to call them and get more info.
  21. I ordered by phone, Used Visa and got the can the next week. They paint the cans as they get the orders.
  22. The clean side separator only comes in to play under WOP or close to it.( Based on what RX told me.) CC is most of the fix. The clean side can wait tell budget allows. When talking to RX about a catch can, we got on the subject of DI motors and the intake valve/guides coating issues. Big issue on Vett boards. Some have torn down engines at 6000 miles. RX strongly recommended a CC for the new DIs to try and keep the junk off the intake valves. Just saying.
  23. Is that the Mike Norris can? Mounted by the Alternator?
  24. I'm close to Austin, what ford dealer did you use?
  25. Like Jay Leno would never, never, never turn his car over for valet parking (see Jay Leno garage Challenger hell cat review 9 mins in, funny), I would never trust a dealership tire balance efforts. Find a good tire balancing shop. I have bought many. many Michelins LTX and sports for the last 30 years and had only one tire out of spec.
