Steering Wheel Controls - Replacement Buttons

I have a 2005 Sierra SLT with the steering wheel controls for the radio and DIC. The previous owner must have had big fingernails because the black is worn off on the Volume button an white is showing through. I touched it up with a black marker, which worked for a while, but wore off again. Can a person get just the volume buttion and replace it, or do you have to get the entire wheel new?

yeah you can, you will have to get both buttons in that cluster i belive its seek/volume

 

part#1999443 i think you have to remove the air bag to do that, i havent done it yet im sure some other memberes will be able to fill in.

I had a problem on my 05 where the lights burnt out. The buttons are fairly easy to replace. I simply removed the airbag and was able to push them from behind the button through the slots which are hidden by the airbag. Once you get the old button out and unplugged simply plug in the replacement and push the new one back into the wheel. Once you get them replaced reinstall your airbag. I know this is not real precise but I'm going from what took 10 min 4 years ago! So I hope this helps!
