Removing Egr

I keep getting a Code 32 on my 91 GMC 1500 4X4. I went through the whole system last weekend, replaced the EGR valve, and the little solenoid that fires it. No code for a couple of days, now today it gave me the code again. When I had the Valve off I checked the passages in the intake as good as I could and they seemed clear. So now maybe it's in the wiring? Anyway my question is if I just take the whole thing off and block the passage will I still get codes all the time? Or is there a way to get rid of any EGR codes?

Also fyi...

The EGR is also used to "cool" combustion and limit spark knock (detonation). Normally if you do removed it you should have the engine tuned accordingly. The truck will run ok with it removed but just wanted to let you know it could cause other issues.

I disconnected the battery, but I didn't pull the fuse so I'll try that. I really don't want to get rid of the EGR, it's just frustrating that light coming on all the time.

You need to trouble shoot the problem. Throwing parts at it is a sure fire way to not fix it. First off are you even getting power to that switch to the EGR? The system imo sees a hard fault. I would go on the option you have a possible power issue. Be methodical in your approach and you will find it.
