well i fouind it and it was a bit*h to remove ,man they were packed up pretty bad after 8 years ,they were just before the heater core .i wonder how long it would be before the core would plug up?ifit was left out .

My 2001 Yukon XL and my 2002 Sierra both have the cabin air filter. I would think that if it's a 2001 model year or later, it will have a filter.

 

They're not easy to get out and it's even more difficult to get all the screws for the plastic cover back in. I think GM could have done a better job of making access to the filter.

 

Unless you read your owner's manual carefully, it's even difficult to determine if you've got the filter. If I recall correctly, I think the owner's manual gives the impression that your vehicle may or may have it. That combined with the lack of any indication visible by inspection, leaves some doubt.

Any ideas where my filter would be located? 03 2500hd? I was just thinking under middle of dash near floor and slightly towards passenger side? This is the first I heard about them, great thread.

from what i have been able to find out ,they were phazed out in 2002 on mine the plastic cover on the passenger side had to be droped down to find the clamp to un hook and swivel off to the side ,and dig them out . here is a quote B&B's Avatar

You guys experiencing reduced airflow are the reason GM dropped the filters all together in the trucks after '02. Few knew they even existed so they were often overlooked during maintenance intervals. Due to that the dealers were getting trucks in left and right under warranty for poor HAVC airflow complaints.

 

So they simply fixed the issue by omitting them all together.
