Finally got rid of the 2002 Sierra 2500HD dmax. You know what a boat is: a hole in the water into which you pour money. Well, the old truck was a hole in my driveway into which I was pouring money! I figured out that counting ONLY repairs, in the 45 or so months I owned it, I averaged $300 a month the whole time! Cripes! That coulda been financing on a new one back then! So I sold it (on Craigslist, 2 hours after posting the message!)!

Bought me a brand new 2009 GMC Sierra 2500HD duramax extended cab long box. I love it!

I've been through the owners manual a couple times, pretty thoroughly, and I have not found anything explicit or specific that says I need to let the truck idle a few minutes if I pull off the interstate at a rest stop, for example, after driving long distances at highway speeds. And since I do tow an 8,000# RV, I'm especially concerned that I do what's right.

I had a diesel sedan twenty years ago, and I remember that was a big deal then, but GM said it wasn't necessary on the 02 when I bought it used in 05, and I want to be sure that's still the case today with my brand new twuck!

I didn't see anything in the book for my 08 GMC. I carry a camper that weighs about 3700#s. I only idle it if I've just pulled more than a small hill, and more than light throttle. Then only 2-3 minutes at most.

My 2002 DMax hasn't cost me anything except fuel and oil. I bought it new...but it only has 67,000 miles on it now.
